Who can go there? I plan on swooping in early and getting back on a plane at the end of the day.

1. I WANT to go!! Where can we meet?
I'll be driving from Florida and have family I can stay with in Takoma Park. As a single, I'd love to meet up with DUers.

2. Well, I think we need to get more people here to sign up
and then come to a consensus of where to meet. We could get there a day earlier to create signs, etc.

There's been alot of talk around here about put up or shut up, so I'm taking a stand on this. If enough of us show up, we could make DU a nationally known website, which would be good for democracy and bad for *.

4. A lot of places have busses going
There's one from Ann Arbor for example, cost about $50 and the bus picks you up Saturday night, drives overnight, drops you off for the protest, picks you up after, and drives back overnight so you don't even have to miss work Monday morning. If you live near a big university chances are there's a bus going.

5. I can make a quick trip.
It's only a 2 - 2-1/2 hour flight from MSP. It's a good investment. plus I want to be there when we have our un-inagural. It's going to be the event of the decade!

I'm bookmarking this.

6. I asked the mods to sticky this at the top of the list
It's important to coordinate this and people have to be able to see it. Too bad we can't charter a plane or two from each state to haul us there in style!

10. it's a great idea, but I think we all know what
"heightened security" means. It means we'll be singled out and "asked" to leave if there's any evidence of signs.

11. Then we create signs that
have 'We love you, W' and then when the time is right we rip of the top layer to reveal our real signs! Just as the NBC camera crew pans the crowds.

15. MAKE NOISE, NOT JUST SIGNS!!
Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk!
And bring ear plugs (as suggested by another DUer)

This is a repost but I thought it important enough....

Protests will be kept far away and out of camera view. Remember last year? Where was any footage of egg throwing, sign-carrying protests which were fairly large? An idea I heard for this year was to bring noisemakers and honking car horns. Whatever can make a loud noise - assuming they'll at least have to keep the sound going on film.

You can buy those canned airhorns at boating supply stores - they make a BIG noise. Also any New Year's Eve bells, horns and whistles you have hanging around. I know people taking their little league coaching whistles too.

PROTESTS SHOULD BE HEARD IF NOT SEEN!!:headbang:

18. I think that would be smarter....
just got an email from ANSWER stating that, in order to even get in line on Jan 20, you'll have to be there by 9 AM,

ANSWER also says folks may have trouble bringing in signs: I wrote them to suggest making BALLOONS with slogans printed on them: you can just have them in your pocket and inflate them once you get past the checkpoints. hehe,.

At any rate, i'm seriously thinking about going, but I think Jan 6 makes more sense.

But we need to be realistic, they wont let us near the parade route so is there another place in DC where we can protest? In 2001 we marched around the Supreme Court Building.

Also, can we organize buses from various cities? I was in a bus group and it made it so much easier and cheaper.
