Here's my email to Rep. Bob Ney of Ohio
(note: for those that don't know, Ney today called the Conyer's hearings "partisan attacks and unsubstantiated claims disguised as fact in a faux hearing." I thought he deserved a little piece of my mind for that utterance - so he got one).

***********

Dear Rep. Ney,

I am writing in response to the ludicrous comments you made in response to the Ohio election reform hearings, which were held earlier today.

If I am quoting you correctly, you stated that these hearings were “partisan attacks and unsubstantiated claims disguised as fact in a faux hearing.” Correct me if I am wrong, Mr. Ney, but were you not invited to these hearings, as were all of your Republican brethren in the House? If you found these hearings so egregious, why did you not make the effort to attend them? Were you afraid, perhaps, that you might actually learn something? Were you afraid to find out that the Ohio election process is not as pure as the driven snow, but rather as impure as the squalid muck?

As per your custom, you have spoken without benefit of thought. I ask you, sir, if the Ohio Secretary of State was the Ohio chair of Kerry/Edwards ’04, and Kerry carried the state, where would you be right about now? My guess is Fox News, stomping about with righteous indignation about this “mockery of the electoral process”. Yet for some reason when the reverse occurs I find you strangely silent. Coincidence? I think not.

Mr. Ney, fraud crosses all boundaries, and anyone with even an inkling of respect for this democracy should be front and center in ferreting it out. Instead, you have the unmitigated gall to call for hearings “next year.” This would be laughable were it not so serious, but this seems to matter little to you, as you wipe your feet on the Constitution and commend yourself for having clean shoes. Anything for the team, right Bob?

Do us a favor, Mr. Ney. Take your quid pro quo mindset and throw it away. Instead of taking paid vacations courtesy of the Tiqua Indians, try working for your constituents for a change. Instead of trading Scottish golf for Buckeye casinos, try thinking of what is best for Ohio rather than what is best for Bobby’s back pocket.

Get a transcript of the hearings, and investigate the claims. When you find them to be true, and you will, you can proceed in one of two ways. You can either stay on the road you’re on, or you can take the proverbial road less traveled. Even though you’ve not been on it for many years, if you move the trash aside you’ll see the sign.

It says “Honesty – straight ahead.”

Sincerely,

xxxxxxx

5. Please do!
As a proud alum of The Ohio State University I am saddened that a buffoon like this represents even a portion of the Buckeye State.

10. Inspiring letter....thanx for posting
I think it is only by speaking out in a clear but forceful way -- by demanding a higher standard of honesty and morality in government, that changes will occur. We must call these turkeys at the games of deception that they play. And insist that they take responsibility for their every public word and action.

I usually avoid writing these far right Repuglicans. But this is how it can be done, I think. No whining and pussy-footing around. Just a strong, well-reasoned argument for something better.

UR so right--if the shoe were on the other foot, they'd be screaming
from DC to LA...

and this is what I wrote.
This election is fixed, and I can't believe you or your party. I guess you really don't care if this election was legitimate, just as long as your guy won. Shame on you and the rest of your party. The people will see through this, and you will be remembered as one who would rather disenfranchise voters then support democracy. Spread the word. People are talking and the talking is getting louder. Democracy will win.

14. This is a great letter, Ney definitely needs to hear from us, along
with the Judiciary Committee Chairman Sensenbrenner. He is very powerful, if he gets on board with this investigation, the other Republicans will have no choice but to join in.
