Can you spell 'bereft'?
My God. I just got up. What are we to do? I don't believe I can bear this - not only the idea of another four years of this but the international embarassment of acknowledging that this has NOT all been some kind of mistake. The American people have just placed a stamp of approval on everything he's done. From the unjust invasion of a foreign country to the apparently knowing torture of international citizens to the approval of a Republican administration and congress choosing the next three or four supreme court justices.

Masticating on how it happened for months is useless. I don't think any country on earth is going to let 49% of us emigrate. Oh lord, I didn't know I could be this disappointed. Please - what are we going to do?

1. I feel your pain
They say that the election is a referendum on an incumbent's first term.

During his first term Bush gave us:

The biggest breach of national security in U.S. history

A miserable economy, with the Dow lower, unemployment higher, and fewer jobs there than when he began

A morally bankrupt and completely unjustified invasion of a sovereign nation.

And notwithstanding all of this, 51% of the voters thought "great job George."

2. We fight like hell to make sure America does not die.
We do not have blood on our hands. We do not condone torture, phony wars, the massacre of civilians, or social injustice. We will do what MLK , Ghandi, Susan B. Anthony and all other brave people did in the face of overwhelming odds. We start a peaceful revolution, and we never, NEVER give up fighting for what is right.

3. Point taken.
Bless you. You're right. I am not the American people; just a lone voice and this is not an excuse to just say 'okay, go ahead, I'll just slink in the corner.' Would be nice if there were more than a handful of Gandhis in history, but we'll just have to try.

4. if there is any consolation to the pain that so many of us are suffering
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 07:52 AM by flordehinojos
this morning, it is that there are so many of us suffering this pain together... something like the old cliche which goes, "misery loves company"... i know that were it not for the message boards this morning and the many people feeling the same kind of pain and disappointment that i am, my pain would be greater. it is somewhat lessened by reading all of you posting your own pain and disappointments.
