How Far Can You Bounce?' Shouts Push Suicidal Teen to Death Leap
Source: news.com.au

Jeering onlookers goaded a teenager in Britain to jump to his death, undermining police efforts to talk him down, and then took pictures of the body.

Tuesday as 17-year-old Shaun Dykes prepared to jump from the top of a multi-storey carpark in Derby, northern England, spectators allegedly shouted to him: "How far can you bounce?," the U.K.'s MailOnline reported.

As Dykes hesitated for three hours on the ledge while police unsuccessfully tried to reason him out of taking his life, teenagers who had gathered below shouted "Jump" and "Get on with it," according to police and witnesses.

Then after Dykes lay in a crumpled heap on the pavement the same hecklers rushed out from behind the police cordon to take photos of the body.....

1. They ought to be arrested.
Every last one of the miserable little f*ckers should have been arrested on the spot.

There are things walking around that appear to be human, but are not. They should be thrown out with the garbage.

I hope Shaun is in a better place now, bless his heart. No telling what got him to this point in such a short life. :(

2. Agreed. Wouldn't it be considered as interefering with the police?
These little pieces of "you know what" have some serious karma coming...

12. It would have turned violent
The police here are little more than well-dressed parking lot attendants. If they made a move to arrest anyone, there would've been a high probability the crowd would have attacked the police. The police do what they can to avoid being beat up over here, and sometimes that means backing down and walking away. As one MP put it, these are 'feral humans.' In my humble opinion, having lived here for 6 years now, British society is at least as violent as American society, and in some respects far more so; they just don't have enough guns to compete with our murder rate.

6. Life is cheap when it belongs to someone else, apparently.
This is so sad in so many ways.

13. +1
i've known of situations where an arguement has escalated into one person pulling a gun on another, and completely impartial onlookers have yelled "SHOOT HIM!"

5. wouldn't 3 hours be time to place something on the ground
just in case??? I agree those fuckers on the ground were INTERFERING with police business and if they were jeering at a shooter to shoot the cops they would indeed have been arrested..to me this is the same thing!

9. In the UK they seem to be having a problem with teens right now.
There is a high teen murder rate and they are having issues with teen crime in general.
