Ex-GCHQ translator/Labour MP arrested by bankruptcy cops

A former Labour MP accused of failing to pay her debts was brought before a court under a warrant for her arrest.

Jane Griffiths failed to appear before Reading County Court on 19 September. On Thursday she was arrested in London.

Appearing before a judge the 49-year-old apologised for not attending the hearing and failing to co-operate with the Insolvency Service.

The former MP for Reading East, who is suspected of owing £29,000 tax, was deselected by her local party in 2004.
