What do you see as the Liberal's campaigning strategy?
So far, other than the gun-ban announcement, Martin and his Liberals have been taking it easy, even to the point of opening themselves as target for criticism. I'm just wondering if they're using a "marathon strategy". Instead of going out with all guns blazing at the start, they are waiting until after Xmas/New Year's before really turning up the heat in their campaigning when the impressions count more compared to now.

Do you think that's the case or are they really going to lay back for the entire campaign and hope that the Canadians are too leery of Harper to vote for the Cons?

1. Who would have thought NHL Center Ice would allow me to see....
my first Conservative Party campaign commercial, during the Vancouver-Ottawa game. And, of course, Harper was making the kind of promises BushCo makes.

The Liberals campaign should be healthy doses of Harper's appearance on Faux News "apologizing" for the Canadian people for not getting involved in the Iraq quagmire.

2. Harper and the Cons are catching up in the polls now
SES shows a 39-30 Liberal lead...shows Harper's Leadership Index flying high (only about 8 to 10 points behind that of Martin). I just hope that the Liberals are not just laying back and hoping the Cons will make mistakes.

3. Not according to the Leger Marketing poll
A new poll suggests the Liberals have increased that lead to 12 percentage points despite a string of big-ticket Tory pledges.

The Leger Marketing survey done for The Canadian Press put support for the Liberals at 39 per cent, compared with 27 per cent for the Conservatives. The NDP stood at 16 per cent, the Bloc Quebecois at 12 and the Green party at five.

The poll of 2006 people, conducted Friday through Wednesday, suggested the Liberals were ahead of the Tories by a whopping 19 points in the key battleground of Ontario and by 16 points in Atlantic Canada.

It looks like the polls are all over the place.

4. The Liberals are 10 points in front.
As soon as the New Year comes, they have to get their feet on the ground and campaign right left up down and in every other direction. They cannot take this election for granted. If they work hard, a narrow majority is possible.

5. My best friend told me this last night
Just watch for the last 3 weeks of the campaign and you'll see the Liberals really kick it into high gear. Why bother wasting all the messages right now, especially before Xmas.

6. Yep, Martin said as much the day the opposition voted on
non-confidence. While the media was covering him with his people, he told them to be prepared to really gear up right after the holidays. There really is no point in doing much until them, all it does is tick off people who don't want to be thinking of going to vote when they want to concentrate on the holiday season.

7. They will hit us with an aggresive reminder Harper wanted us in Iraq
About two weeks before the election. The rest of the time will be an assault on the Cons for just being the dicks they are.
