Liberals Call Snap Vote On Budget, Tories Livid
"In an unexpected move, the Liberals cut off debate on C-48 when they proposed and passed a time allocation motion. After one hour of debate, the bill will be voted on in the House of Commons at approximately 11:30 p.m. ET.

It's a move that could result in an election call if the Liberals lose. But that's unlikely to happen because several Conservative MPs are absent tonight.

It's also a move that's caught the Conservatives completely off guard, reports CTV's Ottawa bureau chief Robert Fife.

"It bushwhacked the Conservatives. They didn't see this coming," says Fife." :D

1. If the Bloc wants C-38 passed, then wouldn't they want to avoid...
bringing down the government by killing C-48?

3. I'm confused. It looks like the Tories are voting for C48...
and the Liberals are voting against it. What's that all about?

5. Ah.
I thought I heard something about an amendment when I first went to CPAC.ca, but I'm kind of shell shocked from taking a 3 year old to a Blue Jays game and can't think straight.

So now we're getting the actual vote on C48.

7. C-48 passed
now it's a run up to C-38 (SSM). I'm doing mainly because I get confused a lot. If the cons & the bloc vote against C-38, it won't be a confidence vote. However, it will look weasily (if that is a word). But, I can see C-38 passing.

8. The Bloc, the NDP
and most of the Liberals will be voting for SSM.

Only the Tories and a few rogue Liberals will vote against it.

9. I don't know...more than a few...
...are against it I think it's somewhere around 20 to 30 who are against it. But it will still pass, no doubt.

10. Excellent news
After a whirlwind few months!

Hearing that SSM will easily pass now, is the icing on the cake.

11. After watching this morning's news coverage of this, I can't
help but grin from ear to ear. Not only did the Libs, NDP and Bloc do the right thing and pull the rug out from under the Cons, Harper looks like an absolute fool, way out of his depth.

I think the Con plan was to ensure the amendment would pass but they wanted to control how, possibly by another speaker tie breaking vote while railing against same sex marriage, etc, and that is why they are 'livid', not that the amendment passed but because they couldn't perform the show they had planned, imo.
