Harper sings the Beatles

Harper entertains a gala crowd with a rendition of "A Little Help from my Friends" alongside Yo Yo Ma at the national arts centre.

Does a pretty good job really. Good on him for loosening up a bit. The guy could use a little personality.

1. Holy shit, I know the band backing him!
The guys on drums, bass and guitar! I used to work with the drummer. I wonder how the hell they scored this gig.

As for Harper, I still refuse to acknowledge that he has a personality. *sticks fingers in ears* La la la, I can't hear you!

2. I wonder if the fact that he sang the line...

"I get high with a little help from my friends" means he supports the decriminalization of pot possession?

I didn't know Steve was such a big fan of that radical lefty John Lennon either!

Honestly though, I don't know if I can ever listen to the Beatles again. The guy has kind of sullied the whole experience for me. :P

3. If Ignatieff did this
The pundits would be psychoanalyzing him for "narcissistic tendencies" and wondering why he has to hog the limelight everywhere he goes. Same for Layton. But with Harper, they frame it as cute.

Nixon was quite the piano player, and Mulroney was quite the crooner. Everyone (supposedly) wanted to have a beer with Bush. See where that leads.

The point of this is to convince women that Harper is a safe choice - "nobody that plays the piano would cut Arts funding". He would and he has.

4. I completely agree with your analysis. I'm sickened by the obvious Con bent in the Canadian media,
particularly CTV.
