Any tax experts/accountants around?

I'm gonna call the infoline tomorrow, but I just thought I'd check:
I rent an apartment, and I share the rent equally with 1 person. When claiming provincial tax credits for rent, can more than one person apply? (As in, I claim my half of the rent, and my room mate claims the other). OR, can only one person apply (I claim it all, my name is on the lease).

Just curious.

1. Only one can apply

If you both apply, you will probably both get money, but a little time down the line you will get a fun note saying you have been rejected and then owe the governement the money back. Also, you have to be careful with roommates, especially if they are of the opposite sex.. if they are, you may have to fill out a sheet stating you are roommates and not common law.. if they feel you are common law they will take away your gst rebate as well..

2. Room mate is of the same sex, and not long enough to qualify as common law

I'm still gonna call them tomorrow and make sure we can't both apply. With my current room mate, I'll just figure out what she WOULD have gotten claiming her portion of the rent for the time she's been here and give it to her myself if it comes to that.
