If any of you wish to donate, please PM< me and I will forward you the information (I am sorry, but, I do need the money to run against Paul Ryan). 2. I think he will
I think we can take back all of the Lake Michigan Shore. Me in the 1st., we have Gwen Moore in the 4th, Bryan in the 5th, and 3 very good candidates in the 8th. WI is going to lead the Democratic takeover of the House!!!

3. No offense but that is my District and I don't recognize
the name.

Could you please post a bio of your self.

It has been my impression that this district is so safe GOP that it is disgusting.

What am I missing.

A Newbie.

4. The History of the District is not Conservative
Edited on Tue Jul-05-05 01:47 PM by bugslsu9
That much is for certain. This is the seat that Les Aspen held for 22 years prior to becoming Secretary of Defense under President Clinton. In recent years, we have not had a candidate who can compete. He always runs, always wins the primary, but never campaigns. That is the reason Ryan has not had a challenger.

For me, I am a socially liberal and fiscally conservative Democrat. I believe that government can help people, but needs to be able to pay for it. I am pro-choice, pro-union, and will work to save Social Security. I am also a fighter. I do not back down, and will not, I repeat will not be afraid to speak my mind.

As for me, I am 27. I graduated with a degree in political science from LSU in 2000. While there, I co-founded College Democrats and became a leader for the progressive cause on the 5th most conservative campus in the country.

There will be a lot more information coming in the next few weeks. Hopefully my website will be up by August 1st.

What part of the area are you from? I will be making the rounds of the county parties over the next few months and doing fund raising. If you want more information, please, PM me, and I will be more than happy to answer any question you have.

Edit to add: Welcome to DU!!!!

5. I grew up in the Kenosha area
while it is true that Les Aspin held the seat from 72 till his appointment as Secretary of Defense, before him it had been held by a republican and has a history as a swing district.

In addition the reapportionment has been kind to Ryan.

I have met Ryan and I am singularly UNIMPRESSED so I wish you all the best and based on what you posted I could happily support you (my wife my not since abortion is everything to her and she is serious Pro-Life, her politics have veered to right over the past few years while mine have gone left, still love her though).

I look forward to learning more about your run against Ryan.

Did you grow up in Wisconsin??

6. I grew up in Greendale
I have lived here most of my life, save for the 4 1/2 years I lived at LSU.

Do you go to the Kenosha County Dems meetings? The Chair of the Kenosha County party in my treasurer.

As for the reapportionment, There are plenty of areas left that vote Dem. Remember, Russ Feingold won 54% of the 1st. District.

7. I did not know that
"Remember, Russ Feingold won 54% of the 1st. District."

I am just kind of getting involved in politics I have observed for most of my 50 plus years but am wanting to get involved know since my kids are grown (however my wife would freak at how liberal I am becoming).

I have met and know Boyd Frederick and Terri Jacobson, if that helps, (though I don't know them super well).

GOOD LUCK!!

10. All but official
I will be filing the paperwork with the FEC most likely next week, if not, then the early part of the following. I am then planning on holding an announcement rally on Sunday August 7th in Janesville. All are of course welcome to come. The time and place are yet to be determined, but I will keep DU posted.

I go to one of the few UW schools in the 1st CD, Parkside, you and I should arrainge some time for you to meet with our college Dems.

Speaking of other Dems running do you know if Mr. perpetual loser Jeff Thomas will be running or not?

13. Absolutely
I would love to get the chance to talk to the college Dems at Parkside. I am a college Dems alum from LSU, so I have a huge appreciation for what college students are able and willing to do.

As for Dr. Thomas, I am not sure about his intentions. My focus is on helping to save Social Security, providing quality education, protecting the envirnment, and promoting tax fairness.

15. Wow Bugs
It looks like your getting the hang of this quite quickly. I gotta say that was very impressive the way you flipped my question about Thomas on me.

On a more serious note, right now I'm not really in close contact with too many of the Parkisde college Dems because its summer break, once the school year starts and we have our first meeting, we'll get a better idea of what our itenirary will be, I'll contact you then to try to arrainge a good time for you to come and meet with us.

BTW, have you contacted Ray Rivera he's the 1st CD's Democratic Party Chairman and also a friend of my family?

16. Actually,
All I did was tell the truth. I am truely not worried about Doc. Thomas. I am confident that if I run my race, I can beat him in the primary.

I have gotten to know Ray over the last few months. I think next year he will be a tremendous help, but because the 1st CD was so disorganized, it will take him some time to get it up and running. But once everything is in place, he will be able to provide some terrific support.

I have been in contact with Awais Khaleel, and I think the college Dems in this district will be an advantage for me.

17. I have no doubt
Your telling the truth, that was just a very polished political answer.

Believe it or not Awais Khaleel is actually my older brother, I guess it's a real small world after all.
