Green "Job Interview Tour"
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 02:46 PM by ewagner
is to begin this week...he's supposed to be in Wood County this week, I wonder where? He doesn't say....

here are some snips:

Green Bay – Congressman Mark Green 's campaign for Governor is going to hit the road this summer and visit each of Wisconsin 's 72 counties at least once over the next 100 days. Most of the time, he'll be traveling in an RV he has dubbed “The Green Machine.”

“Today, my job interview to be the next Governor or Wisconsin begins in earnest,” said Green. “I'm going to travel to every corner of our state this summer and talk to folks about my plan to make Wisconsin great again, and why I believe Jim Doyle has us headed in the wrong direction.”

Green, who announced his candidacy on May 1, has made tax relief, fixing the state's “fiscal mess,” expanding education opportunities and protecting Wisconsin values the main themes of his campaign.

1. I did see this, ewag and I thought it was massmarketed bull, too
Why send out a press release touting the fact that you're traveling 72 counties in 100 days and not provide a schedule so press can show up. I might be new to politics, but it seems to me if you're really going through all the trouble to visit all 72 counties, you'd make sure you got a few members of local press to visit you and your little group of freeptards at every stop if for nothing else but to build name recognition.

I call bullshit on this. It looks to me like a pure media event. Even if the Green Machine visited these counties, I bet Green isn't even on board. They're just trying to pull one over on us. Funny thing is, the Dairyfest parade in Marshfield this weekend would have been the perfect place for him to show off his Eagle Scout badge and 11 kids. :sarcasm: Did you see him there, ewag?

Oh - I know, maybe he picked up Scott Suder (R-Bottom Feeder) in Abbotsford, which could count for visiting Clark and Marathon counties, and they drove to Amy Sue Vruwinks in Milladore and shouted obscenities as they drove past. That would count for visiting Wood County.

I think you've got it right...re: driving past Amy Sue's house and shouting obscenities.....

I didn't see the parade...I try to avoid that mess every year....

I grumbled enough because they shut my street off to traffic on Friday night for the "Cheese Chase 5K Run". Had to make sure we didn't need to go up or down the street between 5:30 and 6:30 or so...

I also grumbled a lot about Dairy Fest in general...it's really just another fund-raising scheme for the Chamber (known as MACCI)

3. "...another fund raising scheme." You got that right!
The last time I went to the parade was when my kids were small and my car got keyed. Haven't been to it since. Plus, they close off every other street so it takes forever just to figure out how to negotiate your way to any of the events you want to get to.

We drove through town just before the parade got started to haul junk to Onyx. Between construction and the roads closed for the parade I think we got to see the whole city before we arrived at our destination. I joined you in grumbling, though MadAsHell probably has another name for what was coming out of my mouth Saturday morning.

I'm with you ewag, Dairyfest is just another (pain in the arse) fund-raising scheme for the chamber, trying to make Marshfield look way more vital and vigorous that it really is.
