To all WI DUers - Which WI congresspersons need replacing?
And when are they due for re-election?
I feel so lucky to have Baldwin. I'd be willing to work on some campaigns elsewhere in the state to elect others like her.

1. Petri...big time
Sensenbrenner. These two for starters.

2. Sensenbrenner needs to go away.
Ryan, not because all Republicans automatically need replaced (well, they do), but because he's young, charismatic, wingnutty as hell and gunning for higher office.

7. All House members are up for election every two years
So, he'll be back on the ballot in 2006.

8. If he runs again
There is some question about whether S may retire, because of health concerns or because he's reaching his limit on being chair of Judiciary. Interesting item: I heard that at S's last town hall meeting, Glen Grothman was sitting next to him. Maybe getting ready to (he hopes) succeed S? Not if Bryan Kennedy has anything to say about it!

9. I can't imagine Grothman ascending this soon...
I hope not, anyway.

Really.

He's the Wingnut Contingent's Golden Boy. Could be an heir down the road, though.

18. Hate to say this
but Sensenbrenner's seat will always be Republican. Too many conservatives in the suburbs.

OTOH, the 1st CD is winnable. This Les Aspin's old seat. A lot of Reagan Democrats out in Janesville, Racine and Kenosha. We need to get them back on our side.

Paul Ryan (and Scott Walker for that matter) remind me too much of the people I went to engineering school with whom I couldn't stand. Just looking out for themselves and their buddies.

21. oh I don't know about that
It's true that Waukesha county went 2 out of 3 for Bush. But if Sensenbrenner isn't going to run again, the seat will be open. Bryan Kennedy is already raising money. He didn't do too badly last time, and I think he's got a shot at it. Waukesha county is red, but only by 2/3rds.

22. Hey neighbor!
Ginny,

I admire your enthusiasm, but I'm not as optomistic as you are. You say Waukesha County is *only* 2/3 red, but to me that's a deep shade of red. No purple here. The chances of a Dem winning the 5th CD is about the same as a GOP winning the mayor of Madison.

The only reason why I knew Byran existed this past election was due to this message board, and I'm a semi-political junkie. He needs more name recognition, just for starters.

Take care.

4. Out with the Old and the New:
Sensenbrenner

Ryan.

All Representatives are up for election every 2 years. Why, oh why can't the Dems find someone to run against Ryan?

11. Green's also gunning for higher office.
Let's just hope he loses against Doyle because his seat will be up for grabs in 2006 and we can definitely push a Democrat into that slot.

Check out the Fox Valley Liberals group as I think they are going to be working hard to write constant LTTEs to discredit Green's Bush Rubber-Stamper voting record, and I think they may be looking for a serious candidate for the seat.

Dottie LeClair ran last time out and is part of FVLs but I'm pretty sure she won't be the one running for the seat. We need a solid ironclad person to run there so we can sweep Green out of office with a Doyle win and a win in the 8th.

16. Definitely Mark Green
He hasn't had an original thought in his head since he took office. Whatever Bush and Tom Delay want him to do, he does it.

As much as I liked Dottie LeClair, we do need someone with bigger name recognition and better fund raising skills. I don't know any district in the 8th with big name recognition, but I hope one develops.

17. Dottie does have some name recognition
which might be an advantage to running again. Last I saw her, she considering another run.

Are there any good Dem state reps in the area who might be willing to take a shot at the seat if it becomes vacant?

15. His comment about the "out of touch Madison Liberals"
was enough for me to want to see him gone. He has been a Bush rubber stamper all along, time to remove him.

19. PAUL RYAN.....
it looks to me, like Bushy has plans for him.....he's due in 2006. Then there is Rep. Samantha Kerkman, She's run unopposed a couple of times, this time around, a guy ran against her, I was really hoping he would win, forgot his name, since I can't vote in Powers Lake, it was David something, but looked like a good candidate..Banking and Finance have been her highest contributers and she is a shill for the party...even said very plainly in the local news, that her opinion or her constituents opinions don't matter, she will follow whatever her party asks her to do or say...

25. Ryan damnit
I honestly don't think Sensenbrenner is beatable. That area is so Republican. Yeah I know hes influential, but we need to focus our money in better places.

We have some good Dems. in the Janesville/Racine/Kenosha area. Bob Wirch just won re-election and hed be a good candidate against Ryan although hes old, and not too charismatic. I think Jim Kreuser would be another good choice.

But damn we can't have Thomas again, not only is that guy not a good candidate, hes an asshole. I didn't even vote for him in Nov.(voted for the Libertarian candidate
