Didn't take the Unions long to back off on the Repubs 'no marching in labor parade' decision
Wausau Labor Day parade organizers: Everyone can march

Written by
Kathleen Foody
Wausau Daily Herald 11:00 PM, Aug. 30, 2011

Organizers of the Labor Day parade in Wausau backed away from an earlier decision to bar Republican lawmakers from participating in the event late Tuesday night.

In an email statement issued shortly before midnight, Marathon County Labor Council President Randy Radtke said everyone will be permitted to march in the parade "because we don't want to have community groups and school bands affected."

"We didn't start this fight in Wisconsin, but were responding to anti-worker positions and policies supported by local Republican politicians, including those who have complained about not being invited," Radtke's statement read. "With the track records that Pam Galloway, Sean Duffy, Scott Walker, and Jerry Petrowski have all put together this year, they should be ashamed to even show their faces at a Labor Day parade."

On Tuesday afternoon, one day after demanding organizers of the event allow members of all political parties to participate or lose financial support for the event from the city, Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple said the decision was intended to make the event all inclusive.

"I don't think the Labor Day parade was ever intended to be a political statement," Tipple said Tuesday afternoon. "It's meant to honor workers, who may be predominantly Democratic. But we've got Republican, Green and Independent workers here, too."

Did the NEOCONS declare war on the unions or did they not? I would have hoped that after what the NEOCONS have done to Wisconsin workers that Randy Radtke had developed a pair of gonads.

:wtf:

2. The issue is whether any tax dollars are used on the parade.
The organizers should have thought of this before they drew such a line. Instead, they could have used the parade as an opportunity to show the GOP pols for the hypocrites they are, only standing with labor when there's a parade.

It would have been a much more productive use of their street cred, would not have riled the pukes into attack mode, and would not have put them in this position of having to back down because labor can't afford to pay for the entire costs of the parade on their own.

I'm as disappointed that they had to back down as anyone, but I was expecting they had put some forethought into it. Apparently not.

4. Thank you.
I'm glad your going. I'm out of town for the weekend. If we get back in time, I'll be there too. I can't wait to turn my back on Duffy and the rest of the pukes.

6. Please, no
I love your passion but there will be many children there and we don't want to put them in the middle of something ugly.

The Union could have easily paid for the parade. It only costs $2000 and they had offers that would have paid for the parade and more. Do you think it is right for the Unions to want to march with the politicians who voted to destroy them? Yes, it put the Repukes in attack mode but it also brought out a lot of support for labor. And it let the politicians know what the Unions think of them.

I think the Union was surprised that Duffy and Galloway even wanted to be in the parade and I was surprised also.

In an effort to prevent any negativity toward him Duffy is bringing his kids to walk with him. Galloway has no kids. Maybe she'll bring a dog.

All the Dems have been put on alert to prevent any hostility during the parade.

5. Yon, really?
Randy has a giant pair of gonads. You aren't here to see what is going on. They threatened to pull the highschool bands and VFW (good riddance), but pulling the bands would have hurt.

Because of Randy's actions we have people from all over WI coming to march, including a 50 member contingency of police officers from Madison. The discussion in the local newspaper has been fierce but the good thing is people are getting educated in what Unions are and their history.

Please don't criticize Randy, he's one of the few that went out there and put his neck on the line. I believe you owe him an apology.

My apologies to Randy and good luck on your parade today. I have been asked to march in the Janesville parade, without my recall Walker signs but so be the rules. I shall slip on some RECALL WALKER buttons during the parade march. :hippie:

10. Hey, Yon, thanks
for your apology. We all get pretty passionate with our politics. Seems like you have some giant gonads, too. I'm the wrong sex for gonads so I aspire to having giant ovaries.

Hope your parade in Janesville was a good one. Ours in Wausau turned out better than I could have wished for.

11. The Janesville parade was bigger than I expected ...
I show up early and passed out anti Ryan sheets and then marched in the parade. They say I couldn't march with my anti walker stuff but when I got there I found that to be bum info, lot's of RECALL WALKER signs. I carried my Liberty Tree flag and pinned SONS OF LIBERTY flag onto my back which received a lot of welcomed questions.

That be brass ovaries ...
