Poll question: Are The Packers Screwed?
Mick McCarthey as head coach? We're screwed for 40 years!

1. The Pack are
In such a catch-22, if they get someone who's background doesn't involve the WC offense, Favre will almost assuredly retire and it'd be a PR nightmare. On the other hand, they may be passing up more qualified coaches simply to please a guy who will probably after one year at most.

2. That's what I get for missing the news.
Sigh. Gotta go figure out who in the hell he is.
I'll vote later.

3. Uffda! A head coach younger than me!!
Still sounds uncertain... there are some conflicting reports as to whether he's interested or not.

11. The only place Yooper belongs is in The Hairy Ape.

6. 40 years! Is this like a Supreme Court appointment?
Shouldn't there at least be hearings?

7. All I could think was that we'd entered the "McCarthey Era"
Are you now, or have you ever been, a Bears fan. (Eyes Dinger suspiciously)

Eh, I hope Brett stays since it's a West Coast offense guy, and they know each other. There's a picture somewhere of Mick kissing Brett on the forehead or something.

8. I"ll withhold judgement
until I hear him talk.I was pissed at first, but who knows? He's from Pittsburgh so that's a plus.Let's see who he gets as assistants that's where the true test is.If he can get Bates to come back and doesn't hire a bunch of hacks from SF maybe we'll be ok.

9. Hmmm applying logic here...
Mike McCarthy, Offensive Coordinator of the 49ers.
-The same 49ers which went 4-12, just like the team Mike Sherman lead which got him fired.
-The same 49ers who scored 239 points. Third FEWEST in the league.
-The same 49ers who were clearly the second worst team in the league and were battling in the final week with Houston over the #1 pick in the draft.

McCarty was in Green Bay before... as Ray Rhodes' Quarterbacks Coach... Favre threw 23 INTs that year, tied for third worst of his career.

-Ray Rhodes was fired one season into his tenure after an 8-8 record.

Yeah this was a solid choice...

Oh and hey, nice job once again dodging minority candidates like they are the plague Green Bay, way to shake off that racist reputation the organizational heads carry since the Rhodes firing....

:shakes head:

We're gonna be chumps for a long time!

With numbers like that, all I can say is WTF.

12. Oh, Thompson's just trying to improve our draft position....
You'll see. It'll work out. Even though Mike McCarthy is one of the least successful assistant coaches in the NFL, he's assuredly head coaching material. Just like Marty Morninhweg.

The share holders need to fire Bob Harlan and Ted Thompson. We don't need to give McCarthy a chance; he's a proven loser. I mean, this is a guy who couldn't field a potent offense with Aaron Brooks, Joe Horn, and Deuce McCallister. Seriously. He had major offensive weapons in New Orleans and still managed to sink their offense.

14. Probably a matter of principle
Why work for the guy who got the job YOU wanted?

I don't blame him, but this is a big loss.

I listened to WGN radio Sunday evening. Despite their loss Sunday, Bears fans seemed rather upbeat about the future knowing what they have and knowing who the Packers and Vikings hired.
