Meeting January 7 in Madison to organize for impeachment
January 7th, 2006 Town Meeting

Other groups will be joining in the coming days.

WHAT & WHY: This is a town meeting open to all especially those persons in the south central Wisconsin area. The purposes of the meeting are:

1. To update persons on the national movement to impeachment President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld;
2. To discuss how to work at the local level to help communities understand the reasons and need for impeachment;
3. To discuss how to encourage the WI Congressional delegation to support House impeachment efforts, and
4. To discuss how to move the impeachment issue into the November 2006 congressional campaigns.

WHEN & WHERE: 1 PM to 3 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park St., Madison, WI 53589

DIRECTIONS: From the South Beltline (U.S. Hwys. 12 & 18), exit at the Park St. exit, drive north to the third stop and go light at the intersection of S. Park and Wingra, to the left will be the large Labor Temple at 1602 S. Park St., turn left and then turn into the large parking lot behind the Labor Temple. From the parking lot, enter the door near the left end of the building, go upstairs to the large meeting room.

Below is a letter sent to over 100 newspapers across WI.

Out of Iraq and Impeach the Leaders
In WI and across the nation the word is gathering attention. More than two years ago some called on Congress to start the impeachment process against President Bush for his violation of international law by conducting an illegal war of aggression. And now he is challenged by Congress for his directing the National Security Agency to illegally spy on Americans.

The Madison based Clarence Kailin Chapter of Veterans for Peace will provide citizens of South Central Wisconsin the opportunity to help censure Mr. Bush. Please attend our town meeting entitled Out of Iraq and Impeach the Leaders. This meeting will coincide with more than 60 other events across the nation in answer to the call by the AfterDowningStreet.org Coalition of peace and justice organizations.

We invite citizens of every village, town and city in South Central Wisconsin to join us on Saturday, January 7, 1:00 p.m. at the Madison Labor Temple, 1602 South Park Street.

Join us to help our nation live by the rule of law -- not arbitrary power.
Writer John Nichols has eloquently challenged each of us: It is unlikely that the effort to censure Bush and Cheney, let alone impeach them, will get far without significant organizing around the country. We say let us begin organizing January 7th.

3. around 400 people came!
It was very exciting to see such a good turnout. Lots of older people and veterans, and everyone is on fire to impeach this regime!
