Please call the DNC to ask them to pay for Washington state gov. recount
In the Washington State goveranor's race, the Republican won the first machine count by 261 votes (Reublican Dino Rossi over Democrat Christine Gregoire.)

That was followed by an automatic machine recount, which shrank the Republican lead to 42.

The next step should be a statewide hand-recount, but the Washigton State Democratc Party doesn't have the required $700,000.

The Democratic National Committee has the money, but is refusing to pay for a statewide hand-recount.

Please call the Democratic National Committee at:

1-202-863-8000

and tell them you want the DNC to pay for a statewide recount for the governor's race in Washington State.

8. I don't wanna be the turd in the punchbowl, but
I get the feeling that the Gregoire campaign has enough money, but will say they don't, so as to have a selctive recount--and force the GOP to put up the dough for the additional counties/precincts. It's a big dance, and Gregoire will wait until the very last three minutes before the deadline to declare which zones it wants recounted, leaving the GOP with only minutes or even seconds to decide how to use resources in a waning battle.

It's all brilliant. And even if I'm wrong, and Gregoire doesn't have enough cash, the net effect on the GOP is the same. Like I said---BRILLIANT!!

9. Got an Email from the DNC This Morning
It looks like the call for the DNC to get involved worked. They're asking for donations with respect to the Governor's race with a personal request from Gregoire, and I think that's fine, considering the high price tag. I'm from California and I gladly gave $25.

11. Same here, here's the email:
Dear Peter,

I need your immediate help. You've probably heard about the extremely close race for governor here in Washington. Only 42 votes separate my opponent and me, and thousands of ballots across the state haven't been counted.

This is by far the closest race in the history of our state, and one of the closest the nation has ever seen. That means we must make sure that every single legitimate ballot has been counted -- and that means a statewide manual recount of every vote.

Washington state law requires the party requesting the recount to pay for it, and it will cost at least $750,000. The Democratic Party is committed to this recount, but they need your immediate donation today to make it happen. Please give today.

https://www.democrats.org/support/

Let me put this race in a little more perspective. Out of nearly 3 million votes cast, only 42 votes separate my Republican opponent and me. That's a difference of 0.0014 percent. The error for voting machines is somewhere between 1 and 2 percent, or 1,000 times as great as the vote difference.

That means that this race is tied, and anything is possible with a manual recount. We must count every vote individually, and we can't do it without you.

https://www.democrats.org/support/

Do not let this election slip through our fingers. We are only 42 votes away from victory in Washington, and we are confident that once all the votes are counted, we will win this race. Please help us reach this urgent goal by making a donation today!

https://www.democrats.org/support/

Sincerely,
Chris Gregoire

12. DFA also raising money
Do you know what is happening in Washington State? In their closest election eveer, an initial recount done by machines turned up thousands of misplaced ballots that had not been counted--the difference in ballots counted so far is just 42 votes out of 2.8 million cast in the race for governor.

We need to keep counting.

We have a little over 24 hours to request a hand count that will ensure that every vote is protected. But the mandatory state fe for the counting could exceed $1 million. The state party and Democratic candidate Christine Gregoire don't have the money after months of unprecedented get-out-the-vote efforts.

Will you help them pay the fee to protect every vote?

http://www.wa-democrats.org/contribute

Our priority has been clear from the beginning: We need an electoral system that respects the sanctity of every vote. Befoe the election we blew the whistle on electronic voting machines and raised hell when Republicans tried to intimidate and silence people in poor or heavily minority neighborhoods.

Since November 2nd, we have worked to get every vote the respect and protection worthy of our democracy--even if those votes will not change the outcome. We owe it to everyone who stood in line for hours, putting aside their jobs and families to be a part of our political process.

The action in Washington State isn't the only thing happening tonight. At 7pm people in your neighborhood will get together and make a plan to build a new Democratic party. Will you join us?

15. YES!
Deadline is 5:00 PM tonight (Friday). Contributions are still very much needed. Latest reports are that they have somewhere between 500,000 - 600,000 but need $1,000,000 for a recount of the entire state.
