GOP plays terrorism card in ad against Dave Ross
Republicans are playing the terrorism card in the hotly contested 8th Congressional District, charging that Democrat Dave Ross would "empower terrorists" and suggesting he would wave the white flag in the war on terror.

A new television spot by the National Republican Congressional Committee cites Ross' statement that he opposes a $100 billion missile-defense system sought by the Bush administration.

The ad accuses Ross of wanting to cut defense spending $100 billion without mentioning that his objection is to missile defense.

It superimposes the words "empower terrorists" following images of children and terrorists. A voice then states that Ross is "waving the wrong flag" as the ad shows a U.S. flag turning white behind an image of Ross

1. The 8th Congressional District
Although this is a predominantly Republican district it also is an extremely educated one who has historically voted their pocket-books. However, many folks in this area are just sick and tired of (for lack of a better word) bull poopies being thrown around by the Republicans this election cycle. I also believe Reichert is seen as a weak candidate without a real core conviction.

I see this district going Democratic---for sure.

2. I think so too.
You're right about the district being educated. Most of the people who live there are wealthy not because they were born into it, but because they are smart and educated and were able to get good jobs.

I think that most people in the district understand that the stakes of this election are extremely high and that this is the time to vote for politicians who embody their values rather than appeal to their wallets.

I think abortion will be a big issue. Reichert is (to quote the Republicans' favorite line) "way out of the mainstream" on the issue, and the 8th district is supposedly the most pro-choice district in Washington, which is already a very pro-choice state.

The 8th will go Democratic all the way.

3. What I hate most in those Repug ads is that picture.....
of Dave Ross looking like he's smirking as if he thinks he's better than everyone else. That has got to be a bad old photo, but the effect the goons are using in these ads could cause damage in this campaign. Are there any really bad photo's of Reichert (remember WTO?) that can be used to counter these?
