Cuccinelli's profile in 11/29/09 Richmond Times Dispatch
Look out world, here he comes! He announces that his election to the AG's office gives him a "bully pulpit to advance his views." Namely, those regarding restricting abortion, squelching any possibility for same-sex marriage, etc. etc. Add this to McDonnell's well-known neanderthal views on working mothers, gay persons ... you name it ... as proclaimed in his thesis at that paragon of higher learning run by his buddy Pat Robertson (i.e., Regent "University") and we have the perfect recipe for a dismal four years for the people of VA.

On top of all that, since there's no money left in the budget for any of them to play with, squander, or otherwise misuse, they'll have nothing to distract them from their focus on draconian social measures. Every minority class in the state needs to be on alert.

Cuccinelli digs in to set course for AG’s office

While he has articulated no specific interest in higher office beyond the one he's about to occupy, he is fully aware of the political soapbox and expanded reach that comes with his job.

"Most of what goes on in the AG's office is legal advice, plain old legal advice," Cuccinelli said.

He noted that social issues to which he's committed, including his opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion rights, typically occupy a small percentage of the office's work. Nevertheless, he said, "it's part of my political foundation -- it's an important part that I never deny. . . .

"My job here isn't to try to change the law so much as uphold it," added Cuccinelli, who believes in a strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. "But I have a bully pulpit I haven't had before, so I'll try to wield influence that way."

I'm digging in to hurl.
