The battle of the signs (Prince William County)
What makes this most interesting is that I've never seen this kind of Democratic fervor before regarding sign destruction. While I don't advocate that and respect anyone's views, I thought this was an interesting development. Republicans, as usual have also been guilty of stealing signs, but the one in this article was the most conspicuous Republican sign I've seen.

<snip>

Prince William County police have received in the last week and a half fewer than two dozen reports of stolen Bush-Cheney signs.

<snip>

A large Bush-Cheney banner was stolen from the northwest corner of the intersection of Minnieville Road and the Prince William Parkway.

The banner, purchased by, specially printed and shipped to O.P. Ditch, a local Republican Committee member, was on a wooden frame resting on what local GOP members refer to as "Republican Hill." The land is owned by a committee member and is reserved exclusively for pro-GOP messages.

<snip>

Ditch said he has never seen theft and destruction on this year's scale. He attributed the partisan atmosphere to Michael Moore's anti-Bush film, "Fahrenheit 9/11."

1. We hate them for their hubris.
More than signs will be destroyed in the defense of democracy.

2. Hi, demnan
Interesting. I live in Woodbridge. There is a large Kerry sign on Rt 1 near the VRE station; am surprised it's still there after several days.

I'm glad that huge B/C sign disappeared from the Minnieville intersection, it was an eyesore.

All political signs--both Kerry and Bush--were removed recently from Old Bridge Rd. It might be some sort of regulation.

Take a drive down Cavalier Dr and Valleywood Dr in Lake Ridge--the Bushbots have been very, very busy posting signs. But there are a few outnumbered souls--yours truly included--with Kerry signs.

3. I've driven by your house I think!
I live in Lake Ridge too, in one of the condo areas and take Cavalier to Smoketown frequently. (My sign is on the inside of my window).

I've seen the signs up on Minneville - but there is an anti-graffiti ordnance in Lake Ridge so I think you're right about the signs being removed on Old Bridge.

4. I live in Tackett's Mill, in Mill Pond Village
I'm pleasantly surprised by the shear number of KE signs I'm seeing around the county.

It IS nice to see that BC monstrosity at the PWP/Minneville intersection disappear. I was secretly hoping that someone would get an itching to bring it down, LOL.

I noticed during my drive on Saturday up 123 North that Tom Davis's signs are taking a beating. Seems that every last one of them was either torn in half or ripped completely from its stakes.

I don't EVER remember seeing this great a degree of sign vandalism in Virginia during any previous campaign seasons.
