Any fans of Northern Irish culture in Northern Virginia?
I've recently learned that there are various Northern Irish cultural events going on in the Maryland/Washington, DC/Northern Virginia in late spring and early summer this year. The Smithsonian Folklife Festival, the American Film Institute's Silver Theatre, and various other venues will showcase Northern Ireland's culture. I understand the Library of Congress is even doing a series of concerts, though we're nearly to the last one.

Feast your eyes on these:

Films at AFI's Silver Theatre in downtown Silver Spring (easily accessible by Metro):

Would any DUers be up for an event or two?

1. Oh, that's really cool!
I love Irish music and what little Irish culture I've been exposed to over the years (my mom's family has roots from Ireland, although it's been several generations), and this sounds like a really cool series of events. :) Unfortunately, it looks like most of these will take place during the time when I'm working this summer, so I doubt I can make it. If any DUers do get the chance to go, though, I'd love to hear about it! :hi: Peace.

2. There seems to be more than I'd anticipated.
American University is running an exhibit of Northern Irish art, for example. It's called "Resolutions: New Art from Northern Ireland" and runs through July 29th.
