Local Veterans Support Services program ending
Edited on Wed Oct-26-11 11:21 AM by white cloud
More cuts for the 99% (Veterans) so 1% avoid taxes and Rick Perry can give it to Cintra/Zachary/Spain

We live in a time where the civilian population doesnt know much about the military, said Gary Alexander, the coordinator for Grayson, Fannin and Cooke counties, in a 2010 interview. It works to sort of isolate the veteran when he comes back because you find yourself being quite different from the civilian when you return. So having another veteran, especially older veterans who have been through all this, makes it really easy to be able to bring the new, returning veteran up to speed.

The program was originally funded at $70,000 for two years, but for next year the Department of State Health Services offered the Texoma Community Center, formerly MHMR Services of Texoma, $33,000.

It simply was just not enough money, said Tony Maddox, executive director for the center. He said the funding is not even enough to fund Alexanders salary, much less travel, training and other expenses.

1.  $70,000 for two years
Perry has the taxpayers pick up his rent at the tune of $10K a month, and the state can't find $70K for two years for our Veterans. That is so frigging wrong.

Where will those returning soldiers go when they come home? They will have none of their own to help them deal with re-integration.

2. The conservanazis and teabaggers are going to turn on veterans.
Sooner or later, they will start complaining that veterans are a drag on the economy. Especially if they see polls that active military and veterans support causes that the conservanazis hate. They want to defund the VA because to them, it's an entitlement or welfare. They don't give a f*ck about veterans when they come home. The conservanazis want someone else to do the dirty work of war and then just push out of the way when the war is over or the veterans come home.
