1. "Why are you taking care of Alabama and other states?"
That nut job Perry has the nerve to ask why Alabama and not Texas? Well maybe because the nut job in charge of Alabama wasn't dissing the federal government as "oppressive", sick Rick!

I'm sure we'll get some aid from the government, but if they take their sweet time getting here - you can thank none other than Rick "Texas will secede" Perry.

:grr:

3. Perry left the rest of us in the dust (and now ashes)
a long time ago :eyes:

Well, the extreme bashers have shown up, doing what they do best. Really, is compassion just lip-service to some, even on the Left?

4. Perry Shouldn't Complain
If a blue state like California got hit by a one-two punch like a couple of massive tidal waves slamming into the California coast followed by massive volcanic eruptions like the ones that could happen at Mount Lassen or Mammoth lake, a Republican President of the sort we get today would tell Californians to deal with it themselves and leave them twisting in the wind.

5. Government’s Disaster Response Wins Praise
A DUer tipped me off to this story. :)

Government’s Disaster Response Wins Praise

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — It has been the deadliest natural disaster on American soil since Hurricane Katrina. But the government response to the tornadoes that devastated the South last week has, at least in the first few days, drawn little of the searing criticism aimed at federal agencies back in 2005.

In numerous interviews in the low-income Alberta neighborhood here on Friday, shortly before President Obama and other officials toured what is now an unimaginable wasteland, residents said they had few complaints about the handling of the aftermath by state, local and federal agencies.

Many expressed mild frustration about limits on their access to damaged homes, the pace of road clearing and power restoration, and traffic jams caused by roadblocks and nonfunctioning signals. But most agreed that government and charitable agencies were coping as effectively as feasible with immediate demands for shelter, food, water and medical care, along with search and rescue operations.

“It ain’t like Katrina,” said Darius Rutley, 21, whose house in Alberta was obliterated. “We’re getting help.”

This is what a socialist government does - takes care of the people in an emergency - immediately after it happens. Not like bushie did with Katrina.

I'm not saying the fires in Texas aren't horrible and we have suffered loss of life - but it has not been on the scale of Alabama. Alabama needed the help first and the Obama administration was right to choose them first.

Perry should be respectful and ask for prayers for the victims of natural disaster in the south.

6. What a great story!
I'm so glad that they are getting the help they need.

Repubs. just can't get it through their thick skulls that sometime in life, disasters happen that are a lot bigger than what an individual, city, or state can handle by themselves. To me, this is one of the biggest differences between the parties.

7. Wonder how many homes at the Cliffs have called perry for
a FEMA trailor.

Or how many of them did not pay ANY taxes last year?

Or how many did not have any insurance to cover their week retreat.

Maybe Perry needs to get GWB to send in Brownie to speed thing up a little like he did in Katrina.

Maybe perry does not want any of that oppressive, socialist, communist, guber ment hand out from DC again.

What a difference from Katrina.

The story tells all.

Just think these people would have another 12 day to wait before Brownie started doing anything.

10. Your tip
Kudos to you for finding the story.

And tonight we hear that Obama finally got Osama Bin Laden - another comparison where he did a hell of a lot better than bushie. G.W. allegedly let Bin Laden slip through their hands several times in his 8 years as President. Obama got him in his first term.

Finish the job BO - cleaning up the republican mess.
