Texas' Deregulated Power Grid Showcased During Super Bowl Week!
Planned Power Outages Ordered Because of Bitter Cold

Thanks to Rick Perry and all the Republican jagoffs for giving us an overpriced, third world utility infrastructure.

1. And they're lying to me about it right now.
The rolling outages in Austin were supposed to affect residential areas thusly: 45 mins on, 15 off. Shit, no. Try 15 on, and 45 off. I can deal, but my house is now down to 55. Power should go off again in about 3 mins.

2. I've been spared so far, but I'm worrying about my mom who lives 50 miles west of me.

She said she woke up to no heat, and since it has been on and off for thirty minutes at a time.

At one point, it was colder in her house than it was in her freezer.

3. Right across the street from us (Houston) has been hit twice with
the blackouts. One for 45 minutes, one for an hour. Nothing here so far. *crosses fingers*

5. You are right about times
We got the same here. 15 on and 45 off. Worthless essentially.

4. And all the NFL/SB activites are exempt from the blackouts
According to Dallas news. So things like the "NFL Experience" at the convention center will get all the electric they need.
Why does this feel like Cuba all of a sudden...isn't this what they do there..tourist sites booming and taken care of, yet local residents are screwed.

8. Sky high rates and multiple plants going off line during high demand.

Hot summer days probably use more power but they can't blame it on the snow.
