The nastiness of DU against Texas has hit epic proportions
Some DU members have taken a World Series from a baseball championship to a liberal versus conservative contest. It has become good liberals (the Giants) versus evil, Bush loving conservatives (the Rangers). If one pulls for the Rangers, you're pulling for George Bush. It's really stupid, and people have taken it to jaw-dropping levels.

There's no debate about baseball. It's another slap at Texas, and yes, DU members who are Texans. Heck, I'm not even a Rangers' fan, and I have had enough of the ridiculousness. I have alerted already twice. We're hated, folks, and I don't think we're wanted here. Yes, I'm pretty pissed.

2. Funny thing, last there was a thread about whether politics would play a part: ONLY ON DU
is how I should have responded. And yes DUers think Texas has only conservatives living here. They tend to forget that there are assholes in all 50 states.

Please don't let it get you down, they are just small and petty people.

4. Bah. The whole Texas thing has been going on since this website was founded.
Bush = Texas

That's where their dislike comes from, it's not personal and no point in getting pissed. We're easy targets for a lot of good reasons.

8. You are right. I got huffy a couple of times and threatened
to storm off. Didn't. Where else could I go to lambaste bush and his crime family on a regular basis?

5. If anyone happens to wonder why my donations to this place have gone waaaay down
this is why.

The absolute refusal to do anything about the red state bashing, despite the fact that many of the most offensive posts come from the same repeat offenders, who have yet to be called on their behavior, much less get a granite cookie.

Texas & Florida are in for it once the election results come rolling in.

6. And...
it's almost as if there are certain cliques, and some states don't get included (one being Texas).

9. So....
It's bad to judge the state of Texas on the actions of a few (who happen to be the elected leaders of the state).

It's good to judge DU on the actions of a few (who are random posters on the Internet with no real influence).

I agree that viewing the World Series through a political lens is wrong. But perhaps you could rephrase your post in a way that makes sense?

13. it's not a "few"
there used to be many more before we kind of declared war & started making our displeasure known, but the Texas bashing never seems to go out of style & alerts often go ignored.

...to continue to bash Texas? It's not just a "few" people in Texas that put The Crazy in office.

So once again, why is it not OK for people on DU to bash Texas, but it's perfectly OK for you to bash DU?

17. No one is bashing DU, we're stating a fact. I think discriminating...
and excluding certain Democrats is harmful to our cause and message. Exactly, what makes a "blue" Democrat any moreso than a "red"???

21. It wasn't just idiots in Texas who put him in office either
Seems to me that folks in all 50 states, including the blue ones, voted for him, so no one state is to blame. And it's not bashing to point out the FACT that Texas-bashing (& red-state bashing) is tolerated on DU despite specific rules against it.

7. I live in Arlington
And everyone that thinks Rangers = conservative can pretty much go fuck themselves. This is what I hate about DU, EVERYTHING has to be political. It's a damn baseball game. I didn't give a flying fuck that Bush was there. I don't give a flying fuck if Nancy Pelosi went to a damn Giants game either.

Fuck the Texas haters.

11. I don't hate Texas. Just visited Austin this past spring. But I have to admit I rooted
for the Giants because I generally root against anything that George Bush is rooting FOR. Nothing against the state itself, just Duyba.

12. To be fair, I've seen a lot of people I know hating on Texas lately.
Then again I also live in the SF Bay Area so... Pretty sure none of these people are on DU. I'm also pretty sure most people know there are some sane people in TX, since most are willing to go so far as to say Austin isn't TX. But when you're surrounded by nutjobs who want to change the school books, or when you drive thru the state and are just plowing thru the radio stations looking for something to listen to and hear some of the most vile gay bashing you've ever heard, it tends to paint with a pretty wide brush. Truth of the matter is that there are plenty of crazy repubs near my mom in northern California (Redding), but I don't get tarred by them because we can still outvote them most of the time. Prop 8 saw a bunch of people hating on the African American portion of DU because of that stupid poll that was conducted in LA. This place just isn't civil really, sometimes I'm OK with that, politics is a contact sport. Can't handle it don't play. But that super aggro attitude leaves the weakest behind. I dunno, I'm kinda just rambling. I'm pretty sure folks here aren't bashing you, they're bashing the crazy that you're surrounded by and using convenient targets to do it, you're just getting caught in the crossfire because you can't get these psychopaths under control. I'm sure you're trying though... Maybe less sane people should leave texas, that way they can stay and try to change it for the better...

18. I must admit ....
I love Texas and I love the Texas Rangers (been a fan since 1980) but I absolutely HATED that W was in the picture every time a Texas on-deck batter was shown. Good gawd, how can that man sit there and enjoy himself after what he's done and what he's caused (mainly all the deaths and destruction in Iraq and Afghanistan). I wish just once, just one time mind you, he had given up his seat to a veteran.

So go ahead fellow DUers, hate on W and hate on Rick Perry and hate on TX Republicans. But don't hate on my state. It's a pretty cool place full of, believe it or not, pretty cool people.

19. I watched at a friend's house
Every time they'd show W, we couldn't help but yell "BOO!" It did take away from the fun of watching the game to see that war criminal on camera.

20. I felt the same way about Dumbya being spotlighted during...
the games. If I had attended the games, there would be no way in h*ll that I would've applauded the bum. Absolutely, no way.

Not that it matters, but he's been to some Cowboy games, also. Piece of crap.

28. But, everyone in Texas isn't a conservative neo-con, Skittles...
so I don't think Dems of this state should be held accountable, ostracized, and faulted because of the Republican low-information and ideological voters of this state. Not exactly sure why Texas is somewhat singled out (maybe because some of the perpetrators are taking on a bullying type of attitude, maybe immaturity plays a part, or maybe they do it because they know it irks some of us). But, whatever the reason, the nastiness needs to stop. Our party already has enough problems right now, and all Dems should be focusing on working together. It's going to take us all to defeat the Republican Tea Party machine in 2012, and fighting amongst ourselves as to who is the bluer/better Dem is not helping matters at all. Just my humble opinion.
