Rodriguez: more than 100 voted illegally
Associated Press
SAN ANTONIO -- U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez charged Tuesday that more than 100 ineligible voters in the Laredo area cast ballots in the March 9 primary election and that such improper support allowed challenger Henry Cuellar to take the lead in a recount.

Rodriguez claimed that some people were registered to vote at addresses in the 28th Congressional District where they did not actually reside, while others listed their address as abandoned houses, vacant lots or nonexistent addresses.

He said in some cases people who did not in fact vote were shown to have cast ballots, and in other instances, false information was given to election officials by people in order to vote.

Rodriguez, who has represented the district since 1997, made the claims in an amendment to the lawsuit he filed in Laredo on April 14.
