Seeing HOPE in Yard Signs and Bumper Stickers...
I live in Rowlett, Texas (a burb of Dallas) and as I walk my dog everyday I noticed that Obama signs and signs for other democrats out number republican and/or McCain signs. I've noticed move bumper stickers for Obama too.

The tally so far in my little subdivision:

8 for Obama
1 for McCain

Anyone else seeing this too? I know several republicans who are on the fence or are now voting for Obama.

Is it audacious to hope this could reflect the outcome here? Dare I HOPE?!?

1. I live 35 miles North of Houston and find it remarkable
that the last 2 elections, every pickup, Lexus and SUV had a bush sticker..(no shit)

now, hardly ANY! It is very unusual to see a McCain sticker....

I have been menaced by men in pickups 4 times in the last 3 months...

no doubt because of my Obama sticker.

3. I live in Tomball and had 2 jackasses in a pickup
chase me down the road, pass me illegally, while one hung out the window pointing to the Nobama homemade sticker on their pickup window.

Fun to watch them try to sink under the seat at the next light when they were caught.

2. I have hope
Even if it means those bush supporters out there stay home on election day.

I hope Texas really kicks it up for Obama.

6. road signs
I drive a big truck and spend a lot of time on US59 between Houston and Texarkana - ever notice how most of the HUGE suv's and pick-ups blasting by you bear McPain stickers?

7. Welcome to DU atmeratus_x!
:hi:

Nope not one bit surprised. I betcha that these huge SUVs with McSame/Failin stickers also believe that our oil is trapped beneath the middle east. They just can't reconcile why God put it there - I mean God doesn't make mistakes. "Drill, baby, drill!!"

8. Hey FT!
I'm a native Texan-- just moved to Wisconsin from there last September.

reprehensor and I just sold our house in Rowlett at the beginning of the year. Where are you? We were in Spinnaker Cove, up back behind the Tom Thumb off of Dal-Rock. Used to be precinct 1A. Not sure if it still is. I know they changed our voting location (got the update card up here...I'm sure it will come in handy :eyes:)

Your post made me smile! I was wondering how things were going locally.

La Madeleine, and Tex Mex, and going to Central Market. But the cooler weather sure was better for my health.

I REALLY miss our house. I had just gotten it where I wanted it.

Sorry we missed ya! Always nice to see another Dem in Rockwall County! :hi:

12. I finally got my Obama signs in the mail this week and put one up.
It's the only political sign I've seen in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, my road doesn't get much traffic but the few cars that pass each day will know who I support. :)

13. You had to order one?
You could have come by the Travis County Coordinated campaign office and gotten one locally. The money stays in Texas that way.

I hope your sign stays up through the election. Are you neighbors nice enough to leave political signs alone?

15. I tend to buy almost everything online.
I'm just lazy that way.

I've never had a sign stolen in the past but I got four just in case, though I'm hoping to give one to a daughter. The other daughter's husband isn't a citizen but does not support Obama so he probably won't let her put an Obama sign out front, though I'm going to offer it. :)

I should come by and get a Noriega sign. Where is the Travis County office? Thanks! :hi:

16. The TCDP Coordinated Campaign
The TCDP Coordinated Campaign is located at 1107 N. I-35, Austin TX 78702. In between 11th and 12th Streets just off IH-35. You can see it from IH-35. You'll see all the huge campaign signs on the outside of the building. There is a CSV store right next door to it.

Bring money - you're going to want to buy everything in the store. They have t-shirts, buttons, bumper stickers, signs etc! It's hard not to drop at least $20 in there every time you go.

But they still have the Kinky bumper sticker on their car.

But hey at least it's not a McSame/Failin sign. A vote for Barr is one less vote for McSame!

18. I just got back from a bike ride and
I go through neighborhoods and look. Today I went through a way lower middle class black neighborhood, and of course saw no McPhailin signs BUT I saw many many oftentimes every other house Obama signs.
The reason that is good is because, as we all know, they had to pay and hustle to get them.
Onward and upward. Steady as she goes. Moving ahead now a notch at a time.
Never get complacent.

19. That's how Obama won the primary
Focus on the target and stay focused. He planned for the long run and it's paying off for him.

He and his campaign staff are brilliant strategists!

20. I live in Dallas. Today I saw about 10 Obama/Biden yard signs, and about 4 McCain/Palin.
I live within the loop, in the city proper.

In the last couple of weeks, I've seen 2 or 3 Obama/Biden bumper stickers. NO McCain/Palin bumper stickers.

23. Collin County here...I've only seen TWO mclame bumper stickers in 4 months
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 09:20 PM by rainbow4321
in my part of central Plano. And since you are local, you KNOW about Collin County's neon red history.

I've definitely seen more Obama/Biden signs/stickers. In 2000 and 2004, you could not pass a single car without seeing a friggng W. Seems repukes don't want to be known as Mclame/palin supporters.
AND, at the two 7/11 stores that I frequent..the blue cup stack is always half the height of the red cup stack. Did you know the http://www.7-election.com/ site shows Obama 61% to Mclame's 39%?? It's definitely showing, even in neon red Collin County!

There is some serious GOTV going on these last few weeks. Found out that the event I volunteered for from this past weekend (30+ people signed up per the event signup list) to do a multi-precinct blockwalk to put out front doorknob hangers (early voting info with Obama's picture on it)reached 4000 voters!!!!! And that is just ONE event.

24. MY EYES MY EYES!
One yard has made up for the outnumbered McCain signs. There is a huge banner with pictures of McPain and Failin with star-shaped, red white and blue balloons and about half a dozen regular yards signs on Dalrock Road between Miller and Garner. Anyone have a sharpee? :eyes:
