Dukes turns down Craddick-linked cash
(Dawnna Dukes is a Craddick D)

HOUSE DISTRICT 46
Dukes turns down Craddick-linked cash
Meager war chests raise questions about both campaigns for the East Austin seat.

Campaign cash was hard to come by in January in Texas House District 46, which includes East Austin, but Rep. Dawnna Dukes still passed on an offer of $50,000 that came indirectly from House Speaker Tom Craddick.

"The contribution was available," Dukes confirmed Wednesday. But she said that she didn't want to be distracted by what she anticipated would be attacks by her opponent if she took the money and that she wanted to remain independent to support the speaker candidate that's best for the district.

A month before the primary election, neither Dukes nor opponent Brian Thompson are close to their fundraising goals: $300,000 for Dukes and half that for Thompson.

Dukes maintains a 4-to-1 advantage in cash on hand, and although she only raised $13,050 during the first 24 days of January, that was almost double Thompson's take. During the past seven months, Dukes had raised about $87,000 as of Jan. 24, according to her most recent campaign finance report. Thompson had raised about $18,400 since he entered the race in early December

Look's like Craddick's money is radioactive this time around.

1. If the truth were indeed known. It was probably money that Craddick
was carrying for Tom DeLay.

Smart move!

Not one bit of difference between Tom Craddick and Tom DeLay. They both should be in jail.

Tom Craddick is far left. The first cat is junior's closet friend.

2. Your photo description is wrong
Craddick is on the far right. As is his party and the wing nuts.

It's MoFo Perry, aka Mr. 39%, aka loser
Dimwit Dewhurst (Lt.Governor)
And Dictator Craddick (Speaker who refused to recognize a motion to vacate the chair)

Texas holds a special place in corruption training in politics especially on the Republican side. Karl Rove cut his teeth in Texas politics and yes DeLay is also a creature of the same corrupt cloth.

Craddick gets his money from two large contributors - Bob Perry (of Swiftboat fame) and James Leininger (whose main issue is vouchers).

3. Flores, Peña, receive $50,000 each from Craddick-backed PAC
But Aaron Pena and Kino Flores, both Craddick D's, held out their hands and pocketed the money.

Rio Grande Guardian 2/5/08
Flores, Peña, receive $50,000 each from Craddick-backed PAC
(snip)
"I get campaign funds from all sorts of PACs. I get campaign donations from across the spectrum, from Republicans and Democrats. Yes, I got $50,000 but I do not know who contributed to that PAC," Flores said.

(snip)
Rodriguez said she was not surprised Flores would take money from Republican-fronted PACs.

"This is Republican payback to Kino for voting against CHIP, voting against the Texas Grants Program, and then walking away from the Voter ID bill that he should have been there to oppose. Kino carries their money and carries their water," she said. (Sandra Rodriguez Kino's Democratic primary opponent)
