BASTARDS!
Rethugs kicked over and broke my Kerry-Edwards sign last night. I live out in the country in west Texas and the little shits had to get out of their vehicle and walk across a barditch to do it but damned if they didn't. Wish I could catch them. Anyhoo, it was back up by 9:30 when I went to church. Has this happened to anybody else?

1. It's all the "compassionate conservatives"....
at work. They are vandalizing Kerry/Edwards signs EVERYWHERE. There was a thread on here earlier where people were posting various areas they knew of who had their Kerry/Edwards signs vandalized. Here in middle TN someone has torn up a friends of mine twice now.

2. I have my sign
inside my window. This won't work in the country but it sure does in town.

3. I ordered at least five signs
Knowing full well that people would "dismantle" them. Funny thing is, it happened before I got up the next morning. Put it up after *'s speech at the convention, and it was kicked down before I got up. Still, only lost one sign for good, so far this year. Hope five lasts us.

Anyway, I am in Texas also and expect more of this silliness. Hang in there.

6. people all over the country are losing signs
and the postings on this board seem to be at least daily. One guy set up a camera and publihed the cretin's picture, another posted the video loop of the punk. Another one caught an old dude redhanded, loading the back of his very fancy car with signs he'd stolen from yards all over town (I think he was turned in to the cops).

These little thugs aren't doing this randomly. This is organized. That it's illegal is beside the point. You pretty much need to photograph them and supply the cops with a license plate number.

This is such incredibly petty, childish behavior that they could only be Repuglicans. One wonders if they honestly think they're making some sort of point by making Kerry voters even more furious at the party they represent.

The only retaliation I can think of is smearing the sign with something they'll regret touching the first time they scratch their noses, like habanero chiles. Wiring a metal sign up with an electric fence setup might work, too, at least by causing a yelp to alert you that it's time to go take a nice picture or two. Putting the sign close to the house also seems to deter some jerks, since they're cowardly little bullyboys who are afraid of getting too close.

Other than that, I'd suggest a tart LTTE describing the pettiness of these punks, and that this is happening nationally, and what it says about the Rethuglican party.

8. At least, they won't kick
it over again. I mounted it on top of a six-foot-tall corner fence post with plastic ties. They'll have to cut them with snips, cause I couldn't cut one with my knife. The gate post is about a quarter-mile from my house and electricity, so I may just have to put it back up EVERY DAMN TIME THEY KNOCK IT OVER! So be it! Never give in! Never give in! Never!

9. signs
A few years back a friend of mine was getting tired of his mailbox getting run over out in the country. He took a 10 foot piece of 6 inch oil pipe and buried it about 5 feet down, filled the hole and the inside of the pipe with concrete and waited. About a week later he heard this horrendous crash about 3 AM and went out to look. Some punk had totalled daddy's brand new pickup on the post which didn't bend one bit. After that there were no more problems

11. heck even in my heavily Dem neighborhood they steal signs
I live in central Austin and we vote 85% Dem and the few repuke thugs in my neighborhood steal Kerry-Edward signs. Somehow in their addled brains, they think stealing your sign is going to change the vote in our neighborhood. WTF? They take their clues from the commander idiot in charge, if you don't like the record - just erase it.

12. No, they probably just get a grim, thuggish satisfaction from the theft.

13. Mine got hit today
My wife called me at work to say that when she got home, the sign was trashed. So I stopped by Dem HQ and picked up two more. On further inspection, I found that the original sign was torn, but repairable. So now I have three signs in my yard.

:)
