I cannot tell a lie. I love my Democracy for Texas meetup! But this month should appeal to everone:
Usual place, usual time. But this month, it’s movie time!
After our regular program, we’ll be joined at 8:00 by State Representative Patrick Rose, who’s running for his second term in District 45. Patrick’s talk will be followed by a showing of “Last Man Standing,” the excellent documentary that recounts his upset of Rick Green in 2002.
In addition, we’ll talk about our upcoming voter registration contest. If you’re not already a deputy voter registrar, come and get sworn in. You must be a registrar to be eligible for the grand prize. We’ll also discuss the Travis County Coordinated Campaign, block walking for Richard Morrison, and our plan to register hundreds of new voters at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
If you haven't seen "Last Man Standing" you're missing the best documentary about Texas politics out there. When it showed on PBS, even though I knew how it ended I was still on the edge of my seat.
Anyway, the usual place: Scholz's Garden, 1607 San Jacinto
The usual time: 7pm, September 1, first Wednesday of the month
