1. Saw it scrolling on the TV.
that is all I know. She was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago but I never heard anything other than that.

2. She was our last great Governor
That was the last time Texas was on the right path. Rest in peace, Ann.

I hope you'll look after us from above.

Damn cancer!

3. Very sad
I am stunned, she was the last person to honorably hold the office of Governor. She kept the office for the people, not the corporations like Bush and good hair.

4. Calling him "good hair" seems like sacrilege...
tonight. Ann's hair was WAY WAY better. :)

5. I know what you mean

I know what you mean. Is it bad to say she had the real beautiful mind unlike the fake person who that tag line is associated with?

6. The coolest politician ever

What an icon. I had the pleasure of being a county campaign manager for Ann during her first run for Governor. What a blast. My favorite Ann story, though, is the time I sat across from her (about 10 years ago exactly)during a Southwest flight from Dallas to Austin. She kicked off her shoes, propped her feet up on the corner of my very pregnant wife's seat, and chatted us up like we were family.

That sense of humor was in full force, and I specifically asked her how she was enjoying life after the Mansion. She told us life was just wonderful, and how much she loved spoiling her granddaughter. Ann represented the old Texas Observer faction of the Texas Democratic Party better than anyone ever, and I miss her already.

Tell St. Peter a good one on the way in, Ann - maybe you'll get a nice seat at the front of the room....

7. Very nice story Texaroo
Glad you got to meet her and hang out with her. Hope your baby on the way then, has a good story of the great woman who once sat next to her and her Mom. She or he can always say they met Ann Richards, even if it was an in utero meeting. Ann would love that you know.

9. My nine year old is going to cry when she hears the news
tomorrow morning. Ann was one of her heroes, and the first house she lived in was in Travis Heights, right by Fullmore Junior High, where Ann taught once upon a time.

We tell that story around here often.

8. I've been missing her for a long time ...

glad her granddaughter got to enjoy that fabulous spirit. Think we can get her to run?

It was so awesome when Ann showed up in Dean's campaign. Hadn't seen her for too long. She is like a drug addiction . . more! more! Never tire of her.

disclaimer: (that isn't literally like drug addition).. more like football addiction.
