Good post about Ron Paul on BOR
Perhaps because of his vociferous opposition to the war in Iraq and now his call for impeaching Bush, a lot of progressives say that Ron Paul is their kind of Republican congressman. Some go so far as to say they'd rather Paul be re-elected over Shane Sklar.

However, they are probably unaware of the breadth of Paul’s strange Libertarian philosophy. They should know that they are throwing in with a guy who holds decidedly 19th century views – on race, health care, aid to the needy and dispossessed, and the border with Mexico.

Paul and some progressive may come down on the same side on some issues, but it’s pretty clear they didn’t get there on the same path. And I would imagine that almost every progressive would deem many of Paul's other views as reprehensible, at minimum. The proof is below, in Ron Paul’s own words.

1. It is important to know the entirety of Paul's platform.

It is definitely something any progressive would want to think about before throwing in with Paul. This guy is over the edge strange, IMO!

2. Paul's own words for the Katrina Victims
Aid for Hurricane Katrina Victims

NOTE: Paul’s own district, the 14th, has about 150 miles of coastline and was struck by Hurricane Rita a few weeks after Katrina inundated New Orleans.

"Is bailing out people that chose to live on the coastline a proper function of the federal government?" he asks. "Why do people in Arizona have to be robbed in order to support the people on the coast?"

I think he pretty much told the victims to f/o. Too bad you got flooded, too bad you were starved and you died. We shouldn't care collectively as a county. It's every many, woman and child for themselves. He's a heartless bastard!

3. And the latest...
Ron Paul was one of 33 congressmen to vote AGAINST renewal of the Voting Rights Act.

I hope Shane Sklar gives him such a whipping he can't sit down for a week!
