Houstonians - is everyone ok?`
I realize the news is sensationalizing the flooding, but I want to make sure all of our DUers are dry.

2. But seriously......
Wet, but not flooded.
My yard is full of water. Getting to work was interesting, but not impossible.

3. Sitting here anticipating
They're saying about 7pm, there's a possibility of it circling around and coming west and south west. I'm planning on going to the candidate forum NW Crossing Dems has scheduled tonight, but waiting for late afternoon updates, to be sure I can get home.

I talked with Peter Brown at an event and he said, the new system at the Buffalo Bayou on the westside hasn't had to be tested yet, so if the bay is damed, flooding could get our area. Great, with my 30ft wall of glass across the back of the house. It wouldn't take a lot, just a foot of so. We have flood insurance, but still, I always pile somethings, like the little wicker rocker my husband had as a toddler, up on the pool table.

Have you heard how this is playing in Galveston, for DVO and Hank? Hank is also suppose to be at the candidate forum tonight.

10. Talked to Perry earlier
He was stuck on 45 but it looked like there would be no parade or picnic. I don't know about Hank, but DVO still plans to be at the Galveston courthouse tomorrow morning, weather permitting.

4. I was a little delayed in getting to work (downtown)
Buffalo Bayou, as usual, was over it's banks. Our bus had to detour thru UofH downtown campus, the bus almost got stuck trying to squeeze around the building but he just backed up and started over. I am hoping they let us leave early since the rain isn't supposed to let up.

Thanks for asking.

5. Very, very wet; had to dump the pool 3x so far this a.m. before it
overflowed onto the nice, green, soggy lawn. But no flooding in the house. The rain can meander off anytime now...
And you, WHD? All okay up your way?

11. We're dry as a bone right now
I expect to be housebound if/when the rain come back, but that's all that even happened in Alicia.

6. I just saw this on Yahoo!
We're not too wet up here, so I was surprised! It's just been light showers and baby storms the past few days.

Ya'll be careful and stay dry!

7. Just watching the Bill & Bob show, but WTF
was Michael Berry's face doing there as usual? Started in his usual spot, grabbing camera time, looking over the shoulders of Bob Eckles and Bill White. I had to cheer when Bill backed up and over, squeezing Berry out of the frame.

I'm sure if I surfed all the channels, someone is interviewing him right now. What a putz!

8. OK in the Galleria area
It doesn't usually flood here.

I am working at home, however, because I got up in the middle of the night Saturday/Sunday morning to use the bathroom, tripped over a dog and fell on my face! A couple of cuts, LOTS of blood (in the bathroom and not on the carpet, thank God)and I'm going to have a hell of a shiner! So I'm home working and holding an ice pack to my face.

I'll be back at work tomorrow, weather permitting, but won't be socializing too much this week.

My poor boyfriend thinks people are going to blame him. I told him that people who TRULY know me know I wouldn't put up with that kind of crap.

Stay dry y'all!

12. My dog tripped me coming out of the bathroom one evening.
He was right outside the door and it was completely dark -- he is NEVER there! I wasn't hurt but my laptop went flying. (It wasn't hurt either. ;) )

I'm sorry you were hurt so badly and hope you're feeling better soon! :hi:

14. I was safe and sound in Austin
at a meeting and missed all the fun.

When I got back in town, every other email from work was about the rain.

15. Survived
Though Mr. SPL has lived in our house off and on for over 40 years and it has never flooded. Our triple pane windows + Argon keep the house eerily quiet and we would never have known it was raining so hard if our dog hadn't woken us up with his angry bark at the thunder for waking HIM up. When I arrived at work I noticed the parking lot didn't have many cars but hey it's summer, I work a university, it was Juneteenth, maybe people took off for Juneteenth celebrations?

17. no flooding here, WHD!
Thank you for asking... I couldn't sleep at all Sunday night (I suffer with insomnia). So I was up to see the spectacular lightning display. We had heavy rain but no flooding, thank goodness. Just drizzling rain today. We may have more later...
