Anybody here know anything about Dale Henry, our TX RR Comm. candidate?
I was told the most heartwarming, inspirational story about him, by a friend I met at the convention.

2. Here's what I know
He and his wife had a ranch which they planned to pass on to their son. Unfortunately he was recently killed in some sort of accident on the ranch. He was supposed to inherit the ranch. He had always told his dad that he should run for RR Commissioner, that he thought he'd be good at it.

So Dale Henry decides to sell the ranch that would have gone to his son and use the money to run for Commissioner.

But when I'm googling this, it looks like Dale Henry has run for this office before, unsuccessfully - and as a Republican. Also tried to get Perry to appoint him once when there was a vacancy.

Anybody know if this is the same Dale Henry? Or anymore about him?

3. That's the same Dale Henry.
Between he and Fred Head, we sure can pick 'em sometimes. I did meet Mr. Henry, and he seemed like a nice fellow though.

4. Don't know many specifics...
but I know he was a member of the Dirty 30, and on that basis alone I'm willing to give him my full support.

5. Dale's been a Democrat, then a Republican

and now a Democrat again. Many of us (yes, me too) have made this same pilgrimage. He's so thoroughly disgusted with how the Republicans have governed that I don't think he'll ever turn away again.

I met Dale and his wife (whose ancestors fought at the Alamo and at San Jacinto) at David's first Filibuster, in Austin last March. Here's a video of them. It ought to answer all your questions. I also wrote this about that moment in the Filibuster. (I'm tellin' ya, you're missing history in the making if you're missing these Filibusters.)

6. We gave a fund raiser for our two state candidates in
Lampasas and he gave his share of the profits back to the county because he is funding his own campaign. He has some good ideas about water protection and encouraging small drilling operations and streamlining the RR department. I like him. Old time Texas type.
