We were going to have realtors over Saturday and
maybe check out a place up the road being built....
but who wants a mortgage at 54 when you can give your money
to something really important.

11. Bell and Gammage will be there

Both campaigns confirmed to me that Chris Bell and Bob Gammage will be in attendance. Bell will have a hospitality room open from 2-6 pm, and wants everybody to come by and say hi.

13. What an evening!

Stiil can't quite get my head around it.

The only one of our candidates whose hand I missed shaking was Ben Grant's. Spent some quality time with DVO and and also Bob Gammage at the after-party.

Met Fred Head for the first time and exchanged business cards. Didn't spend as much time as I have in the past schmoozing with Chris Bell and Barbara Radnofsky, as we were all working other sides of the room. But their speeches at the rally were on fire, and Bell followed up enthusiastically at the SDEC meetings with the news of DeLay's demise.

And the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy rocked the house. Art Sabin, one of the event's sponsors and who sat next to Master of the Universe Walter Umphrey at an adjacent table, came over and asked to be admitted into our circle. Lisa0825 deserves the mega-kudos for putting it all together, and West Houston Dem made the party happen with her libations, and Smarty Pants Liberal and errorbells graced us with an appearance.

And about a thousand Democrats from across Texas laughed and cheered as Howard Dean and Jim Hightower and David Van Os and Nick Lampson and Shane Sklar made us proud.

My head hurts and I need a nap, but my heart is happy about being present at the planning of the coming revolution.

18. I think that we Democrats have

an embarrassment of riches on the ballot, starting at the top.

Not really for publication yet since it isn't firmed up, but Wesley Clark will probably be in Houston before the end of January to make a campaign stop with Bob. He'll visit Texas again before the primary in March (I'm guessing that one will be in the Metroplex). Wesley Clark's third trip to Deep-In-The-Hearta in 2006 is already confirmed: he's speaking at the Texas Democratic Party convention in Fort Worth in June.

I am happy to say I met with some of the West Houston Dems ;> finally.

My husband went over and spoke to MOTU :applause: Walt Umphrey.
His parents were my husband's Godparents. Walt seemed to get a bit
of attention from folks ;-)
