Gary Page for Congressional District 24 - A Note from His Wife
As of this morning, Gary has raised $1500 toward the filing fee of $3125, which leaves $1625. The other option of gathering 500 signatures has proven to be very hard and frustrating work. Well meaning people volunteer to help and then don't follow through. Of the 70 signatures gathered yesterday in a 10-hour marathon session, nearly 1/2 proved to be invalid. So far, we have 200 valid signatures, 95% of which Gary collected by going door to door.

If Gary does not gain ballot access, Marchant will be most like be running unopposed as we are not aware of anyone else vying for district 24. Marchant is a staunch George W. Bush supporter and worked with him when he was governor of Texas. Marchant has said, "the two of them agree on social and fiscal policy 99 percent of the time". We are all hoping that Democrats make some in-roads into our current one party rule in 2006. There is no chance of that happening if Republicans are given a free ride.

Gary works full time as a computer programmer and I am an accountant for a small business. In addition to this, we also run a 501(C)3 Animal Rescue Organization. Gary and I are both passionate about Democratic values and desperately want to make sure that we have a choice when we go to vote for our congressional representative next November. If only 160 people could find it in their hearts to donate $10, we would have that choice. Come on Texans - we have to start somewhere and if ever there was a time when change is possible, it is in 2006.

No matter how much, your donation is very much needed and appreciated. Please go to this link in order to make a donation. The filing deadline is at 6 p.m. tomorrow.

Gary R Page for Congress

Thank you,

Carol Ann Mielke Page

7. How likely are you to get the signatures you need?

And where will the money go if you don't get enough signatures?

8. The money will go towards the filing fee. If they got enough
signatures, they wouldn't have to pay to file.

I thought they might have to have both the signatures and the money.

12. We're not going to get the signatures
It's time for cash. And it's time for all good Democrats to step up to the plate and help. We can raise this money from our various club lists and personal e-mails. No seat left unchallenged. If we have a good candidate who is willing to run, we can not let the filing deadline be the obstacle that stops us. There is no reason to believe that we can't raise this money by the filing deadline.

Come on DUer's lets get cracking. Plead, cajole and use guilt if necessary.

To give you an idea how bad Kenny boy is, take a look at his voting record at Project Vote Smart
http://www.vote-smart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=BS...

I can tell you from looking up the last 3 budget votes in Dec. that he's lock step voting with Tom DeLay and Lamar Smith. These 3 clowns voted to cut student loans, food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, and give more tax cuts for the rich. These people do not represent the majority of people in this state or country.

9. If Gary Does Not Gain Ballot Access.....
either by paying the filing fee or by gathering signatures - all money that has been donated toward this goal will be returned to the person who donated it, either by paypal or check, however it was received in initially, you have mine and Gary's word on that. Hope that answers the question. We are up to $1550 so far and still need help.

14. He made it!
David Van Os sent out this e-mail less than a half-hour ago:

I just got off the phone with Gary Page. You did it! He's gone over the top with the money needed for his filing fee. Over $1700 came in on PayPal within 4 hours time. He read me the names of donors. Approximately 80% of it came from members of our Steering Committee. Thank you so much for doing this. Gary is a fighting Democrat who will tear into Kenny Marchant and the Republican leadership. I can't thank you enough for doing this. We need Democrats like him on the ballot everywhere. I am proud of you.

My best personal regards,
David Van Os
