6. Surely it can't help
I read somewhere on ABC's The Note that a majority of Americans now thought that DeLay probably engaged in some kind of criminal activity and they did not view his indictment as political. Same for Frist. People are starting to pay attention now. I couldn't find ABC's link but this link is the same poll:

http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-1462_1816160,00.html
Bush popularity keeps dropping
Investigations of prominent Republican lawmakers also appear to pose a threat for Bush's party.

Sixty-five percent said charges against Bush ally and former majority leader of the House of Representatives, Tom DeLay, suggested potential illegal activity.

A majority of 57% said an investigation into possible insider trading by the majority leader in the Senate, Bill Frist, indicated possible wrongdoing.

The poll, based on interviews with 807 adults, was conducted between October 8 and October 10 and had a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.

4. How about that. The revolution wasn't televised
Now Democrats must stand up and give Texans a reason or two to vote for them.

Where oh where are KKKarl's "invisible grassroots supporters" when the pollsters come calling?

It's hard to interview them when they're buried (and bloodless) in the bowels of the voting machines.

13. "Houston, we have a problem"
Great news, but this is more a reflection of just how badly Bush has shit his bed rather than a rebellion over all things Repug. Hopefully we'll turn this into election victories across the state in '06.

We still have a state legislature overflowing with fundie nut jobs. Our Governor is a clueless pandering sock puppet for Corporations. We have arguably the one of the 5 worst wingnut Senators (Cornyn) and Hutchison is not much better.

We have a lot of work to do and a long way to go.

19. Are you talking about Texas, because I could swear you are describing Ohio
Now what I came here to say was that Texas does have attributes of a Blue state. The Democrats are dreaming of the Latino population tipping SW states to the party, the African American population is significant, and there are a lot of smart people in Texas (it has a huge electronics industry, for example).

21. in Texas, the elements are there for Dem victories, but...
The Hispanic population doesn't vote as a block or in numbers relative to their population. Blacks are concentrated in a few districts in each major metropolis. Redistricting really did dilute a lot of traditional Democratic voting areas.

There are enclaves of very smart and independent to Democratic voters.

Unfortunately there are also huge swaths on rural and suburban die hard republicanism. Plus, the Republicans really do have a well financed "machine" in Texas that makes every race an uphill battle. The fundies are extremely activist, well financed and well represented.

I'm optimistic, but realistically, you won't see a big flip red to Blue in Texas in 2006 or 08. We'll make gains, make changes and maybe can join the 21st century 10 years late in 2010.

22. I lament the voter apathy in the minority groups during the K/E '04
...presidential campaign. We were knocking on doors trying to register voters in neighborhoods that should be prime Dem country. The residents seemed wholly bored with the idea of politics five months before the November election. What to do, what to do??

15. Now all we need is a strong Democrat...
...to stand up and show some leadership and step into this rapidly-growing political void in the state (and country) However, I don't see anybody around here (DFW) who has the balls to stand up.
