The first time I met him was during the redistricting hearings when he was our lone defender on that committee. Kino Flores was absent with conflicting meetings and Vilma Luna, well we can put her in the DINO category as well. She sold us out big time.
Anyway I agree with you wholeheartedly that Rep. Raymond is a class act.
On a related note the same blog Dos Centavos says that Ciro has announced he's running officially, and that Raymond and Rodriguez are playing nice to each other for now. Henry is the target for both.
http://dos-centavos.blogspot.com/2005/03/ciro-makes-it-official.htmlDefeated San Antonio congressmember Ciro Rodriguez has announced that he will be seeking to unseat Rep. Henry Cuellar. According to the Express-News, Ciro has also formed a lobbyist firm in DC with his former chief of staff. One way or another, it looks like Ciro is going back to Washington.
The E-N reports that State Rep. Richard Raymond and Rodriguez have made a sort of agreement to not talk each other out of running, but to go after Cuellar. Cuellar has yet to prove himself worthy of re-election as he supports the Sensenbrenner bill which calls for a wall to be built on the Mexican border along with other anti-Latino measures, and has been questionable in publicly attacking Bush's proposed changes to social security.
