University of Tennessee President John Petersen to step down
By Brad Schrade • The Tennessean • February 18, 2009

University of Tennessee President John Petersen announced his resignation today as pressure mounted from a five-year job review that was ongoing, and apparently not going that well.

Petersen will effectively lose the reins of the state’s flagship system on March 1 as he begins a four-month paid administrative leave until his official resignation date of June 30, according to a release issued this afternoon.

Dr. Jan Simek, who has been with the university since 1984, will be recommended by the board to fill Petersen’s position on an interim basis that could last for up to two years, the release said. Simek will serve as acting president starting March 1 until July 1 when he will take over as interim president.

The change represents the third major leadership change in the president’s office at the university in eight years. Petersen’s two predecessors – John Shumaker and J. Wade Gilley – stepped down earlier this decade amid separate scandals.

1. Did you know The University of Tennessee - Nursing program is teaching :
this scenario: You have a patient who has had a minor surgical procedure and are warned and advised to watch for a bleed. This patient is experiencing confusion, is sweating profusely, blood pressure is dropping, heart rate is increasing, no urine output and a sharp spike in sugar levels. What do you do ? According to nursing instructor Dona Boyd - " check the room temperature, that could be the reason for these signs and symptoms " If this kind of crap is being taught to our future nurses in East Tennessee, God save us. I would have kind of thought this patient was bleeding internally and needs to be taken to surgery STAT.... No - it's the room temperature. It's on public record in Greeneville, TN Federal court. Case no. 2:04-cv-375.

See what is deemed, defended and supported as "THE ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS OF HEALTH CARE" in East Tennessee. http://www.wisecountyissues.com What's being sold in misleading advertising sure isn't what is on public record. If you live in East Tennessee and are considering using a Wellmont Health Care System, get a second opinion !!
