F911 finally arrives in Cookeville
Actually, it opened over a week ago. And I finally got to see it. Whew. There were 20 people at the 7:00 on a Monday night. Not bad for a town of 35,000.

An acquaintance who works at the theater related an interesting story: a while back an ad or editorial appeared in the local paper accusing the theater of making a political decision not to show the movie. They received many, many phone calls from irate citizens who demanded to see the movie. My acquaintance usually got chewed out before he could explain the truth: they were on a waiting list for a copy of the film. It was that simple. But liberals are as fired-up and angry as freepers at a Hillary book-signing.

The only thing I can say about the movie that I haven't seen raised before is that I cringed when Moore fed quotes to interviewees. I expect that shit from Dianne Sawyer and others of her ilk. Moore should know better.

That said, he's a genius at absurd juxtapositions, especially using music that is so at odds with the video that it jarrs the nerves. He's quite talented.

1. Speaking of music, did you catch the Clapton reference....
In the section of the movie when he's talking about W's "war" records from Nam? He's going through the blacked out names and info from his medical records and when he gets to the section about W missing his medical examination you get a small short clip of music... Clapton's "Cocaine"

If you wanna hang out you've got to take her out; cocaine.
If you wanna get down, down on the ground; cocaine.
She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie; cocaine.

If you got bad news, you wanna kick them blues; cocaine.
When your day is done and you wanna run; cocaine.
She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie; cocaine.

If your thing is gone and you wanna ride on; cocaine.
Don't forget this fact, you can't get it back; cocaine.
She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie; cocaine.

She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie; cocaine.

I about LOST it when they played the theme song from "Great American Hero" during the clips of W flying in the aircraft carrier and the whole 'mission accomplished' thing. I was laughing so loud that I figured I was the only one in the theater that picked up on the reference... hell maybe I was ;).
