Repugs vandalized my bumper stickers...
Just a reminder of the mentality we are up against....

I'm an avid day hiker and as such went up for a quick 8 mile loop hike in Great Smoky Mountain National Park this Sunday. Parked at the trail head (a place usually only frequented by back country and day hikers) and went about my business. Did a mental calculation before I left (as I find myself often doing these days) of Kerry vs. Bush bumper stickers in the parking area. Count showed 2 other cars carrying Kerry stickers, zero for Bush (yeah!).

Well, I get back from my hike and notice that some repugnican @ss decided to take some Sharpies to my stickers. My "Kerry for President" sticker had the "Kerry" part masked out with blue pen and the word "BUSH" written over it in black marker. My "Kerry/Edwards" sticker had a nice enlightened "Sucks" scrawled over it. But it was my pride and joy "One Term President" sticker (www.onetermpresident.org) that they got to which pissed me off the most. In the most creative stroke of vandalism and graffiti genius, and in a moment of pure inspiration the offending vandal marked out the "One" and wrote above it "2".... WOW!

Not to be petty, but this kind of garbage pisses me off. Not only because it happened in a National Park, but also because it shows the audacity of these idiots to work counter to ANY message they find offensive or un-appealing. How many Dems waste their time by trying to vandalize other peoples property when the message is contrary to their own.... This is more than just an election for president, this is an election to change the mindset of the American people.

1. Welcom to DU!
You're right - it is a sign of their mentality. However, you can be sure that if you did it to their bumper stickers, they would be ready to lynch you and feel justified.

Probably the best advice is to use magnetic stickers while driving and remove them when parked. It's an unfortunate reality but we live side by side with bigoted stupid racist reactionary immature self-styled "conservative" whack jobs who don't think there's anything wrong with vandalism against us.

3. Great idea!
You can buy magnetic sheets in computer supplies. Just stick your bumper sticker on the sheet and cut it down to match. It's too bad we have to do this, but it's better than letting ignorant adults get under your skin.

2. What do you expect of facist brownshirts?
It's all too typical of Bush supporters, and it's not petty to be pissed off when someone vandalizes your property like that. I think the time is coming when we will have to start fighting back--the 'pugs don't expect it from us.

4. Dissent...............
will not be tolerated in Bush America! Check your brain at the door and get with the NeoConazi program!

Welcome to DU :hi: and don't let this crap get you down. After November these "morans" will get the hint that they're in the minority and run back to their rat holes to hide.

5. How many people carry markers in their cars?
Was there a park office nearby? Any commercial building?

6. I thought the same thing....
however this was a fairly remote campground in the park (Abrams Creek Campground area, for those that are familiar with the area). No stores or commercial buildings nearby, only the ranger station. The weird thing is I have two of the stickers duplicated on each rear side window and only the ones on my driver side, and on my back windshield, were marked over.. the ones on the passenger side were untouched.

It's a strange area to have something like that happen, I'd imagine something like this happening around here if I was parked at a mall or a bar, but not out at a trail head in the smokies. The handwriting looked like it was feminine, so I suspect it was probably some redneck couple that came to that area for a picnic (there are picnic tables nearby the trail head). I doubt it was the ranger or anybody that would have traveled to a store to purchase markers just to write over my stickers. We were at least 25 minutes from the nearest gas station.

7. Bizarre
What the hell would a Repuke be doing in a National Park anyway?

Scoping out the place for real estate development and oil drilling once the Repukes privatize the public lands, probably.
