Need help finding church in Knoxville
Hi all,

After not attending chuch for several years, I'm looking to find one to attend and/or join in Knoxville. I've decided that I'm sick and tired of letting right-wing hypocrites keep away from celebrating my faith. I'm looking for a church that's supportive and where I won't immediately be prayed for or damned to hell for being a liberal. ;-) I have no problem with people being republicans or conservatives but I do take issue when political policy is preached as the word of God. :eyes: I'd like a church where I can relax and be me and not have to feel on guard constantly. I'm open to any christian denomination(meaning God is God and Jesus was the son of God). Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

1. Try TVUUC.
Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, that is. It's on Kingston Pike, on the same stretch as many other churches in town. TVUUC is the one closest to the UTK campus.

5. Christ United Methodist Church
That's where I go, when my schedule permits. It's on Maynardville Highway in Halls. Last July 4, they read the text of the speech JFK was supposed to give the day he was killed. The pastor has criticized political parties who try to claim religion as their own.

2. You can also try the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd
on Jacksboro Pike in Fountain City.

A lot of Democrats attend that church - and, when you think that Fountain City has a Dem city councilman, one Dem county commissioner and a Dem state representative, you must think that there are a lot of Dems in Fountain City (that's where I live).

6. North Knox Countians
What a small world to see someone from Fountain City on here! I graduated from Central High in 1985, but I live in Halls. I have a good number of friends and co-workers who are Episcopalian, and they tend to be Democrats.
