The DU admins are posting a number of official results threads in the various state forums. These threads are being made available for those members who wish to participate in them on Election Night.

A full listing of campaign results will appear on the DU homepage on Election Night.

This thread is for posting election results ONLY. Please do not use this thread for discussion. There is an entire message board that you can use for discussion. PLEASE PUT THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION IN THE TITLE OF YOUR POST. Include the candidate names (Dem first, then Republican), the current result, and the precincts reporting, like so:

There are going to be lots of results threads, and it will be difficult for the moderators to police all of them. If someone tries to disrupt, please hit alert on their post to let the moderators know. If this thread goes off topic, feel free to give others a polite reminder about the purpose of this thread.

Senate leader tastes defeat in South Dakota
CHET BROKAW
Associated Press

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle was ousted by South Dakota voters Tuesday as Republicans succeeded in defeating one of President Bush's chief critics.

With 823 of the state's 827 precincts reporting, Thune had 197,194 votes, or 51 percent, to Daschle's 190,100 votes, or 49 percent.

/snip/

An exit poll of 1,551 South Dakota voters done for The Associated Press showed Daschle did well among voters who consider themselves moderates, while Thune got solid support from those who see themselves as conservative Protestants.

-------------------------------------------------

It's time for Daschle's swan song. Yeah, he wore a pink tutu and was much more civil that the Republicans in the Senate deserved.

Dammit, I'm going to miss him and keep wondering why the good people of South Dakota made such an ill-informed choice for Thune. Yuck!

4. My friend, I won't miss Daschle
except for his warm Dem body in a seat. He was a wimp, and gave our party a bad name as such.

5. He did more than most!
Daschle is a leader. Yeah, no one always agrees with a leader all the time.

I would have liked more of a discussion on 1-6-01, by backing up the House Democrats on the discussion of the Florida electors. House Republicans would have voted for Bush electors after 2-3 hours debate anyway.

All told, Daschle did a lot for South Dakota!

Hey, check out UDO here---

Let's start a state wide UDO (ultra Democratic organization)--

first elections December 2004!

(Anyone can join the Yahoo group)

Thanks!
