john.guerriero@timesnews.com U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., is expected to raise the temperature of presidential politics with a campaign stop in Erie next week.
Kerry, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, is expected to visit Monday to speak about health care. A rally in Perry Square is possible, local Democrats said.
Erie Mayor Rick Filippi, Filippi top aide Tina Mengine, and City Councilman Ian Murray all confirmed Wednesday that Kerry is bound for Erie, although the time and other details must be decided.
Mark Nevins, Kerry's spokesman in Pennsylvania, said a visit to Erie isn't a done deal. If it happens, though, the focus would be on health-care issues.
