Flashback: Sestak 'most productive freshman in U.S. House' - 2007
I've been looking for this reference and found it today. And I figured it was time for something substantive to be posted about our Senate candidate. :)

U.S. Rep. Joseph Sestak, D-7 of Edgmont, was the most productive of 42 Democratic freshman congressmen in 2007, according to a compilation of bills and amendments drawn up by the office of Majority Leader U.S. Rep. Steny H. Hoyer, D-Md.

Sestak, a retired Navy admiral who toppled longtime incumbent Republican Curt Weldon last year, was able to get four amendments and pieces of legislation through the House during his first year in office, according to Hoyer's list, which was compiled in August.

The amendments included helping prevent post-traumatic stress disorder and stress-related psychopathologies from developing amongst military service members; closing a loophole to allow bundling of contracts and include small businesses in bidding for government contracts; and forgiveness for student loans of Head Start teachers.

He also sponsored a bill to relieve federal regulations on small businesses and provide grants to Small Business Development Centers, and has passed another bill since Hoyer's list that blocks U.S. military reservists called to active duty from being forced to make payments on student loans while overseas. Sestak has also supported or co-sponsored several other pieces of legislation.

And he has come under fire for using that time to the detriment of his staff. According to a September piece in the congressional newspaper The Hill, a high turnover rate in the congressman's office is due to overworking his aides.

Many current and former staffers refute that claim, saying their boss never asks for more than he's willing to put in himself and many of those who left were temporary staff planning to move on after Sestak's office was up and running.
