Print Your Own Free Obama Posters and Stickers
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 11:24 PM by JPZenger
There is a real shortage of Obama signs and stickers. Its time to print your own. Here are some sites with materials that you can download for free and print yourself.

Here's downloads to make your own tshirts by using an iron on, and make stickers by printing the logo on sticker back paper.

and here is the funniest bumper sticker I have ever seen:

1. Thanks
I'm going to head for the crafts store and get a button-making kit to make me some Obama buttons.

Yard signs seem to be the real shortage--any idea on how you can make your own?

2. Hard to make waterproof yard signs
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 01:03 PM by JPZenger
It is hard to make waterproof yard signs yourself. One site recommended printing out signs and then glueing them to cardboard and then covering them with clear packing tape.

Some of the links allow you to download a file that you can take to a sign company to print. You can also buy regular official Obama yard signs on the web, but they are expensive.

For buttons, you can probably get stickers from your local Obama office and use the sticker on top of a cheap button you buy at a dollar store.

3. Take the PDF files from some of the download sites to Kinko's
Or another printer and have them print them on the plastic ones like the realtors use. They probably have the metal "legs" to stick through the corrugated plastic and into the ground.

Full disclosure - my DH works at Kinko's. I just downloaded a bunch of the files so I can pick some to have him print.

4. My OBAMA poster was destroyed.
I heard a noisy crowd outside recently and later that day we learned that our plastic OBAMA sign was shredded so badly that it could no longer fit into the metal legs. I am at a good location in West Los Angeles where people can see my front yard along a busy Olympic Blvd. I saw that my neighbor up the street no longer had a sign on his lawn. I think there are vandals in our neighborhood! Unfortunately, I am unwilling to pay over $10 for UPS, especially when in other years, they give away campaign materials. I had already paid for this plastic yard sign.

5. When I ran for State Committee I made my own. Here's how:
1) Have file printed up on 11 x 17 paper (horizontal layout) at a copy shop.

2) Fold one regular sheet of poster board in half.

3) Tape 11 x 17 paper sign to each side of the folded posterboard. Use clear packing / mailing tape.

4) Tape up the two sides. Leave bottom open and slip over wire frame or stakes. Then tape or staple bottom shut.

I used black & white printing on colored paper taped to white posterboard. You can experiment with other methods of course.

The signs lasted a couple of weeks or more depending on where they were placed and how much weather they got. The colored paper tended to fade first, but was fine for many days.

6. Making your own Posters and Bumper Stickers
I do decopauge an old art from the 60s and I stickered my whole car inside and out.
For yard signs they do sell a product called Frogs Juice at art supply stores that waterproofs but I cover everything with clear contact paper I get in the housewear dept of any Wallmart or Meijer and it holds against the elements for about a year it will hold for the next few months in your yard.
Just go to any site and print pictures and posters off Google and put them together on cardboard as large as you want.
Take two wire hangers and unravel them and use them in between the two signs to stick it right in the yard or tack them to trees.
Its real easy!
For bumber stickers I enclose the printed picture front and backl in the contact paper and then I use another sguare of contact cut to just a little bigger and seal it to the bumper it peals right off when I want it too and all goo comes off with goo gone.

8. I love being able to make my own signs, but I want and Obama/Biden sign!
I LOVE Barack, and my husband and I already voted for him and Joe in the GE this year, but I'm upset that I can't find a combo sign! Does anyone know if there are any anywhere?

BTW, I did all my signs for Howard Dean when he was running! They turned out great, and I did what a previous poster said. Use clear packing tape to completely cover them. They are not only waterproof, but a lot stronger than the cardboard ones! I printed them on cardstock.

9. More info on signs, shirts, buttons, stickers
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 09:13 AM by JPZenger
Some PA. offices have received Obama/Biden waterproof yard signs on metal poles. They ask for a donation for them. Others have a flyer that folds out to be an Obama/Biden sign that you can tape in your window.

www.demstore.com is a good place to buy Obama signs, shirts, buttons, stickers, etc. - it is much quicker than the official Obama site. They also offer bulk discounts, and even have buttons in Hebrew.

Here's a good place to download free Obama/Biden signs:
