Bad G.O.P. showings in Pa. blamed on Bush; Bradford County one area affected

George Bush has done to the Republican Party what Jimmy Carter did to the Democrats,” said attorney John Minora, a Republican lawyer in Scranton.

Democrats won the two open state Supreme Court seats, regaining the majority on that court, and one of three Superior Court seats.

Democrats also wrested the majority from Republicans in 12 county commissioners offices, including, apparently, hardcore Republican counties such as Bradford and Susquehanna. The wins included Democratic Lackawanna and slightly Republican Northumberland, meaning four were in the 10th Congressional District.

in the heart of rural conservative PA - we now have a Dem Congressman (Carney- who I am told is working hard on reelection in this redneck region and disappoints me over and over on war votes but is good on education and health care issues) and the majority (2) Dem Commissioners in Bradford Cty - there is change in the air for sure - never would have believed this possible and I have lived here over 30 years ( by the way the surviving republican commissioner was the lowest vote getter of the 3!)
