Senate Race Getting TOO Close?
Is anyone seeing the blatently misleading attack ads against Eric Fingerhut in parts of the state other than Cleveland? We know he's been spending tons and sweating nervously because of soft poll support, but coming out with a smear so aggressive at this point makes you wonder if we might not actually beat Voinovich by more than a couple points.

Please reply if you've seen it.

Thanks!
Anthony

1. Saw something today....
...about Fingerhut being against funding for the troops. My attention was about 90% diverted at the time, but I remember thinking that it sounded very odd.

I'll pay closer attention next time. But to answer your question, at least one anti-Fingerhut ad has aired in the Dayton area.

2. Have been seeing that here in Central Ohio for about a week
Have not seen any Fingerhut ads, so I was confused as to why Voinobitch was spending money on an attack ad.

3. If you completely beat the hell out of your opponent,
people will be less inclined to run against you next time.

4. Next time?
There is no next time. This is it for Voinovich. He'll be 74 in 2010. The amazing thing, he ran no negatives on Boyle in 98, but ran similar smears against Metzenbaum in 88. Guess which time he lost?

6. Strom Thrumond was 94 when he was elected to his last term.
Arlen Specter is 74 and is probably going to be reelected this year. Robert Byrd is 87 years old.

7. Haven't seen any anti-Fingerhut ads in my corner of the state.
I'm encouraged to hear that they're out there, actually.

Isn't Eric the most dynamic speaker? He comes off as the kind of guy you're just willing to work for, you know?

8. I've seen them on both Cincy stations
and Dayton stations but no Fingerhut ads. I thought it was weird too because we don't even have Fingerhut yard signs down here (I tried for weeks to get one)
