5. I'm ambivalent.

On the one hand, we don't require a license to practice religion, or a license to write a letter to your congressman.

On the other, we then wouldn't be able to track how well such folks obey the law (any law..)

ie,

13. No, becuase villager's comment in the OP referenced upcoming leg in the Ohio House..
.. which only applies to concealed license holders.

Do try and keep up.

19. So gun ownership is like a religion?
That explains a lot, including the blood sacrifice so often required of its worshipers.

4. you didn't need to use the n/t
you could've used the body of the message to express some sadness over the people that were shot.

but that's not why you came to this thread is it?

6. And I'm sure you rushed right over to express grief for the victims
Of course, that's not the kind of "damage control" you do in news threads about mass shootings, is it?

7. Just like you expressed sadness?
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 12:14 AM by X_Digger
You really should have done that first before attempting to shame others for not doing so. Otherwise it looks kind of hypocritical.

Heck, you should castigate villager for the same- after all, he only tried to score political points- no sadness expressed.

10. Well, I see several "ignored" posts here, so maybe you weren't originally talking to me?
Dunno -- could be my mistake in that case...

I am sad for the victims -- and all the future victims this stupid, NRA-written laws will give us... That's what I was getting at....

18. No -- mass shootings aren't "national" because they're so routine, apparently
Only each locality need worry about their own rampages...

Nary a tear was shed, it was a swipe at upcoming legislation pending in the Ohio legislature.

3. Strickland was "for" this....
"Consider Democrat Strickland. The governor said he'll sign a lunatic Senate concealed-handgun bill if the House, too, passes the measure and sends it to Strickland's desk.

The bill would let people with concealed-weapons permits carry handguns in bars and other places with Ohio liquor permits. The Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police opposes that. The association said in legislative testimony it "has consistently opposed this from the beginning of the debate because alcohol and guns do not mix."

14. What they don't mention is that it's illegal to carry while drinking.
You can carry a weapon in a venue that has a liquor license, but you are not legally allowed to have even one drop of alcohol pass your lips while you have a gun in your possession.
