OSU law school dean appointed interim AG

<<COLUMBUS — Gov. Ted Strickland on Wednesday appointed Nancy Rogers, dean of Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law, to be attorney general, at least until November. She stepped down from her deanship and agreed to not run for the permanent job in the fall.

"She is a person of great accomplishment," Strickland said. She is a national leader in dispute resolution — a skill that will come in handy as attorney general.

At a press conference in the governor's chambers, Rogers said, "It's a shame that the actions of a limited number of persons who did not live up to these values have underminded the public confidence in this office. It has led some to doubt that the attorney general still carries the moral authority....The situation must be turned around quickly."

Rogers said she has "no desire" to run for the office, but "every desire to do the best in the next five months."<<

She was sworn in Wednesday morning.

Sounds like the grownups may have taken over -- she's been the dean since 2001 and has served on the national board of Legal Services Corp., which provides legal services to the poor.

Possible candidates for November: Lee Fisher, Richard Cordray (D); Mike DeWine (R); Delaware County attorney Robert Owens (I).

1. Another solid and well respect person to fill the AG spot is Eric Fingerhut. He would be terrific
and strong.
