Ohio State Medical Association is NOT endorsing either candidate
In the US senate race.
...
With 46 million Americans currently uninsured, Brown has advocated for a stronger health care system that would provide access to care for the uninsured. "I would like to move rapidly toward <100 percent coverage>, not incrementally toward it like so many in Washington say they want to do," Brown said. Though he does advocate expanding health care coverage, he stated he does not support mandating that businesses insure their employees nor would he support a system that provided health insurance using tax dollars, as in Canada.

Sen. Mike DeWine, whom Brown is challenging for the Senate seat, also supports small businesses partnering to reduce the expense of purchasing insurance coverage for employees. He also backed legislation enacting the Medicare prescription drug plan. "While it's more complicated than people would like, in the end, a lot of Ohioans have coverage who did not have coverage and a lot are saving a lot of money," DeWine said.

OSMA and AMA policy states the organizations support expanding health insurance coverage. While both organizations oppose a Canadian-style, government-funded system, they have suggested that Congress use tax credits to help individuals buy health insurance.

Both Sen. Mike DeWine and Rep. Sherrod Brown have backed legislation to correct Medicare's flawed physician payment formula.
